WE ARE FAMILY

A s important to me as my music and sports are, my family is even more so. Whenever something in my life goes "wrong," I know I always have my family to turn to. I'll warn you now, this may get a little mushy, so if you don't really like that kind of stuff, READ ANYWAY!!!! :) *grin*

A really bad pic of me and my family :P

I'll start with Mom because - as she always reminds me - she brought me into this world, and she can take me out! (HI MOM!) My mom is the best mom to walk the face of the earth (no.. I'm not a little biased or anything!! hehe), and in the past 7 or so years has become a best friend to me. She's been there for me through everything, and she'll be there 'til the day she dies (which hopefully isn't any time soon :P) - and probably beyond! She's a wonderful, talented, intelligent individual who graduated with her Master's in Agency Counseling (she already has a BA in Art Education) and has found a good job with an agency in downtown Toledo. I'm really proud of her, and I wouldn't trade my relationship with her for the world!

My dad is wonderful in a lot of different ways than my mom. We aren't as close as we used to be or as close as I'd like us to be, but we're slowly getting there again (I used to be a big-time Daddy's girl), and that's good. Usually, it's, "Daddy?" (complete with puppy-dog eyes) and, "Ok, how much do you need this time?" haha He (like me) is a BIG sports buff, and we could spend 15,000 hours a day talking about nothing but sports. He knows a great deal more than I do (obviously because he's older than me), but there are times (though not many) when I actually know something before he does. He's also a wonderful artist, but most of his art (while he's talented with physical images) deals with the mental pictures of poetry. I love him very much and don't tell him that as often as I should.

Brinn is my middle sister and a 15-year-old know-it-all!! Typical teenager, but we've become close in the last couple of years or so. We still have our explosive moments, but they've died down (as her temperament has) and it's all par for the course because we're sisters! It's funny becase she's interested in guys, and it's still a little weird to hear a resounding, "HELLO" come out of her mouth when she sees a good-looking guy. She still claims that she doens't like anyone at her high school, but I'm sure that'll change! And her aritistic talents completely blow me clean out of the water!!! She's a lot better than I ever was, am now, and ever will be *grin* She's really excited right now because she's on the stage crew for her high school's musical.

Cassie's a different story altogether! She's 12, and is at that age where she thinks she doesn't have to listen to anyone but herself. She also has the typical pre-teen mouth and attitude that gets old REAL quick! But she's a pretty neat kid, and she still has her sweet disposition on occassion. She used to be one crazy kid, but things change as you grow older, so *shrug* Classic example: When she was younger, and we lived in our old neighborhood, she used to run around the house with one of the pumpkins (that McDonald's used for their Halloween happy meals) on her head and a wooden spoon in her hand. She would bang the spoon on the pumpkin singing, "A-A-Amazin Fruit... A-A-Amazin Fruit.." *shake head*

Greg and Alexa are the "newest" additions to our family; Mom remarried a few years ago. Greg's a wiz with electronics and plays hockey like me - even though not very often anymore. He's in school right now (paid for by his new company) for electronics and is getting better grades than I am! We get along really well, but when all else fails, we can talk about hockey haha
Lexi's 8, and she's a pretty typical kid. She lives with her mom, so she only spends a couple of weekends a month with us. Regardless, she's a part of the family now, and I'm glad they're both a part of it!

That's my immediate family. If I were to tell about "the others," I'd be here all day. With 3 families, I have oodles of aunts, uncles, and cousins, but of those, my 2 biological grandmas are probably most dear to me. When my grandpas were still alive, I was closer to them than I was most others in my family.

There is one person, however, who may not be a part of our immediate family, but she deservers to be on this page because of how close she is with and how much she's loved by the entire family. Liz is Brinn's best friend and is like a sister to all three of us girls and like another daughter to Mom (she has many "adopted" daughters). She's a "partier" like the rest of us, and loves to have fun as much as I do. She tries to keep Brinn out of trouble for the most part, although it doesn't always happen!

I do want to take a minute to tell you about our menagerie :) We have a regular zoo around our house!! We have a retriever/lab/german sheppard/collie/who-knows-what-else mix named Sam, a dalmatian (Sir Grey Argyle Socks), 2 parakeets (Bob and George), and a finch (Macaroni; Cheese - the female - died). Then, there are 2 rabbits (Sir Lop-a-Lot and Velveteen Velcro), a bunch of fish, and our 2 outdoor cats that live in our basement complete with "kitty door" for them to go in and out. Our newest animal is our mutt-puppy Nutmeg, but we all call her Megan. Some names just fit pets, and that one just happens to fit her! She's one crazy dog!! She has energy like you would NOT believe!
We just had to put our other dalmatian (Paisley) down because of old age, and our goose (Baby Goose) who came with the house that I just LOOOOVED to terrorize with the car horn (she sued to honk back when she heard it) died about a year ago. We also used to have an emu (kind of like an ostrich) named Pyro, but our idiot male dalmatian (Argyle) decided he'd be a nice and tasty treat when Pyro accidentally got out of his pen. These all were hard for us, but things like this happen.

An old pic of my puppies (Sam, Paisley, and Argyle)

My family's 17-acre pond that Baby Goose used to spend her days.
