This trip was planned by the men...I'm not a fisherman, but for some reason my husband thought he wasn't going to go without me. Actually, this is one of his trips when I'm glad he included me. The couple we went with had been to Alaska several times. From Houston, we flew straight to Seattle (thanks to a sister-in-law who works for Continental Airlines) and arrived uneventfully. From there, we connected on Alaska Airlines to Juneau and on to Gustavus, headed for Glacier Bay. The men went ahead of us to get in some fishing (almost four days) before the women arrived. The limit on halibut is two per day per person, so the guys were excited to see us ... it doubled their fish limit! (Halibut is a huge flat flounder whitefish. EXCELLENT meat.) Where we were fishing, the halibut ranged in size from 40 to 60 lbs. for a small one to the big catch of the trip of 180 lbs.
