Life's Lessons

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the whole community knew the story. The person it concerned was deeply hurt and offended. Later the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that it was completely untrue. She was very sorry and went to a wise old sage to find out what she could do to repair the damage.

"Go to the marketplace," he said, "and purchase a chicken, and have it killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one along the road."

Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she was told.

The next day the wise man said, "Now go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me."

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay, the wind had blown the feathers all away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three in her hand.

"You see," said the old sage, "it's easy to drop them, but it's impossible to get them back. So it is with gossip. It doesn't take much to spread a rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong."

Everybody Knows
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.
~ So ~
You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.
~ Then ~
You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.
~ Dare To Believe ~
That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

A Valuable Message About Discrimination
and Prejudice

One day God's wife decided to bake him his favoritest cookies... Gingerbread Men.

She mixed up a huge batter thinking she would make lots of cookies and freeze some of them. Carefully she mixed the ingredients and cut each figure out with tender care.

The first batch went in the oven. She looked outside and saw some clouds coming so she ran out to bring in the wash hanging on the line. When she came back in, the cookies were just a littleover done.

In went the second batch. They were almost done when Rosey next door phoned, they got to talking and until she smelled smoke..... this batch was just a little black.

In went the third batch.. not wanting to overcook them she pulled them out just a little bit too soon.. and they were a little bit white.

The fourth batch was cooked the desired length of time.

She was placing all of the cookies on the cupboard when God came home. He looked at the cookies and smiled.."darling" he said.. "you are so wonderful, from one batch made by loving hands, you have created a rainbow of colors. Each one different in their own special way, but all made from the same batter."

We are all equal... each special and unique in our own way.. but made from the same batter

Said Another Way, Beautifully

So many lessons in life. I only pray my girls don't learn them ALL the hard way. Some are best when read offered as entertainment, hoping the morals or lessons are heeded.
