A variant of the standard TMF/A-802 BuCUE, the TMF/A-802D Desert BuCUE is designed for extreme desert environments (as the name implies.) The extent of the modifications include wider feet for better walking and running through extremely-sandy terrain, and sand filters installed within the wing-mounted jet engines, and over the un-armored areas of the neck. Other than that, it's essentially just a normal BuCUE. |

An experimental BuCUE variant designed for increased agility, speed, and the ability to fly limited distances. The greatest change to the design, deal with the unit's wings; they've been totally redesigned, in order to provide lift, rather than to push the BuCUE against the ground (to give it better traction.) The wings were also enlarged, in order to provide even more lift, and two more jet engines were added to provide more power, for better lift. Three additional wing-like surfaces were added to the BuCUE's head (based off of those used on the TMF/A-803 LaGOWE,) in order to give it better control while in the air. Aside from the wing modifications, the tractor treads on the legs were removed to reduce weight, and the twin beam saber on the unit's "mouth" was replaced with a single beam saber that sticks straight out front, rather than to the sides. Although it was intended to be able to fly through the air like the AMF-101 DINN, it was discovered that the Aerial BuCUE was best used at low altitudes above the ground, in movements that resembled very long jumps. Even without the original abilities hoped for, the Aerial BuCUE would've made a good support unit for other ground-based forces, or even for DINNs. However, because of the failure to achieve one of its initial design goals, the project was deemed unworthy of mass-production, and the single prototype was given to a normal BuCUE squadron, where it was used until it was destroyed in battle. |
