Trey Parker and Matt Stone speak.

South Park : Some quotes I found from the writers.

So, whats it all about? Read on...

South Park began life as a video greeting card. A TV executive hired Trey Parker and Matt Stone and gave them $2000 to produce a video card for some of his friends. A draft program in which the kids bring a snowman to life was the inspiration for a (funnier) program in which the brats talk Santa and Jesus out of a mortal combat style fight over the spirit of Christmas. During the South Park theme, it is just possible to see a part of the fight on the billboard by the road as the kids bus goes past.

Anyway, the video proved so popular that it spread all over Hollywood and soon approaches were being made to Trey Parker and Matt Stone by TV networks eager to make a show out of the video card. In the end, 13 episodes were made, and it seems 13 more are on the way.

South Park is loosely based on a Colorado town called, of all things, South Park. For what it is worth, this town has the highest incidence of UFO sightings in the world. Just thought you would want to know that.

The Creators Speak : Some interesting stuff from interviews.

Quotes on Kyle:

Matt Stone (quoted in New Voices) : "I can totally sympathise with Kyle. I mean, I'm pretty much with him. We're both reactionary, short tempered and impatient."

Trey Parker (Again, in new Voices) : "There was one Jewish person in my whole town, and while the rest of us did Christmas stuff, she had to come out and do a Hanukkah song. She was totally like the token Jewish person. I did not want to be here. Everyone pointed her out and stuff."

On all four kids :

(In New Voices)"Everyone grows up with two best friends, a fat kid and a poor kid."

(In New Voices)"This is how we talked and this is how we acted."

(In New Voices)Matt Stone : "The show is so real. It's not a show with adults projecting what they think kids should be. Everyones been a kid and everyone can relate.

(In New Voices)Trey Parker : "You didnt get to pick who you hung out with The busstop dictrated who your friends were."

(In New Voices)"We've done studies which show that if you put in a fart joke every ten seconds you've got it."

On Next Season :

"This season was too normal. We want next season to be REALLY fucked up."

On A Possible Movie

(In Entertainment Magazine)

Trey Parker : "We're psyched to do it"

"We would only do a movie if we could make it R Rated, something like what we did with spirit of Christmas"

On Guest Appearences by Celebrities :

(In Entertainment Weekly)"I think they'd rather be on the show than have us rip on them."

On Cartmans Father :

(In Entertainment Magazine) : We're not sure who he is, but he's someone in town."
