Poor Old Lu

October 1996

Poor Old Lu is one of the best bands the christian music industry has seen. It's way too bad that the band is breaking up. Their final concert is sometime in November of 1996 (correct me if I'm wrong).

At the end of last spring, Poor Old Lu released what many thought to be their best album. Picture of the EighthWonder puts out the very best in listening enjoyment. Personally, I would say Poor Old Lu sounds like the Smashing Pumpkins mixed with the Tragically Hip with their own little touch added. Listening to Poor Old Lu, you probably wouldn't think at all that they were from Seattle, but surprisingly, they are. Being a Seattle band, Poor Old Lu presents an orginal sound (especially from most other Seattle bands) with a great message. I guess Poor Old Lu would be classified as an alternative band (that term is starting to be overused). They sound original, play loud, and totally rock. I think Poor Old Lu is something people with lots of different tastes would enjoy. If you listen to grunge, alternative, rock, punk or just like good music, you will love Poor Old Lu.
