IDEAS
This page is another one that won't have much on it to begin with. What I will do is use this as sort of a notebook to keep track of some of my adventure and campaign ideas. So far, to start this off, I'll only have one idea, and I'll share that with you now.
This is an idea I am using for the Dark Sun campaign I'm running now. My Athas was once the Forgotten Realms world of Ferun. A dark mage who's name is all but forgotten tried to find an easier, faster, or more efficient way to cast spells. He accidently came across the process of Defiler magic. This magic was easer to cast, and casting times were almost halved for most spells! The effects of defiler magic was not noticed for almost 100 years, as all of Toril was well populated with plant life. By the time the effects were noticed, defiler magic was very widespread; everyone wanted to know how to cut the casting time of their spells. When the general populous saw what this new breed of mages were doing to the land, they were outraged. Their faith in magic and the gods faltered. All the gods started loosing powers, as people questioned why their "protective" gods would let something like this come to be. Mystra was hardest hit, as defilers outdueled traditional mages with faster spells. The gods who had worshippers in other crystal spheres withdrew as the mage wars continued. Defilers then started destroying temples and whole clergies, as their last competion fell. Then there came Elminster and the Seven Sisters. It looked as though Mystra's final line of defense would turn the tide of this all encompassing mage war. But ten defilers rose above the others, and eliminated the Seven Sisters one by one in clever traps. No scrying magic could find them, and no protective magic could protect from these ten greatest defilers. What no one knew was that these defilers had matched their magical prowess with powers of the mind. In the center of what is now the Dragon's Bowl, Elminster made his final stand. In a great magical battle, which created the crater, the 10 defilers slew Ferun's greatest mage. But not without their own casualties. the ten were down to eight. These eight then gathered up the tremendous magical energies unleashed in the battle, and transformed one of their own into the Tyr dragon. They then proceeded, with help from the dragon, to wipe out all the major towns, and most traditional mages on the continant. The Eight as they were now called, each took one city to call their own, and the scorcer-kings were born. All the reckless spell throwing took it's toll on the region, destroying most plant life. By now, most of the Realm's gods had either left or been destroyed. Mystra was the last to go. With her last bit of godly essence, she entombed her favorite mages, and left with them her holy symbol. In this symbol, she placed the last of her essence, and under it a scroll, pleading with whomever would take the symbol to repair the weave, and take her place in the heavens.
