Have I Got News For You - The Official Pirate Video

THIS VIDEO IS _________

Fill in the missing word, it's that simple.

This is (personally speaking) the funniest of the three videos I'm reviewing .

If you're a fan of the show, you must buy this tape. It's based on 1997 and it's brilliant, frankly. It's basically an extended version of the show with the regulars (Angus Deayton, Ian Heslop and Paul Merton) joined by Martin Clunes and Neil Morressy (The Badly Behaved men)and they are in fine form for the programme.

It begins with the first round of news footage.

"A lot of people complain that spin-off videos are too similar to the shows... still what can you do?!"

Obviously I'm not going to reveal too much or it would be pointless buying it.

The Second Round is the Odd One Out Round:

"We'd normally play the Odd One Out round in Round 3 but today we're going to play it now. We're crazy, we just don't care tonight."

This starts off a kind of running joke throughout the programme involving everyone's favorite road protester called Swampy, Swampy and a man who copyrighted his name called Mr Bramley.

Round 3 is a new round where the audience were polled on four questions: Who is your least favourite MP? What is your favourite TV programme? What do you want for Christmas? Who was your least favourite guest on 'For You?

It's played just like Family Fortunes with some great references to the show from Paul Merton:

"You wouldn't hear Les Dennis saying 'Who gives a fuck?' on Family Fortunes, would you?'

"But Family Fortunes is a good show though. They'd ask a question like 'Name something with an engine' and they'd say... 'cat'"

This is possibly my favourite bit of the show with all teams in great form mocking each of the questions and answers.

This leads into the tabloid headlines round which involves making a Teletubby at the end which is yet again (for want of a different adjective) brilliant.

Finally it's the traditional Missing Words round which may or may not use headlines from the guest publication 'Loungerie Buyer'. This is great, especially the final one!

All in all, if you're going to buy a video, put this near the top of your list, it's (yes!) brilliant!

VERDICT: 8/10 - A must buy.
