Wow! It's got a CD on the front.
Right. Basically, you either find Vic and Bob really funny, quite amusing, sort of average or rubbish.
Luckily I like them.
In the book you get a sort of behind the scenes look at the show, such as the history of 50s throwback MArk Lamarr (made up of course), an insight in to how much George Dawes hates Pingu and a picture of Ulrika Johnson topless (steady! You may be surprised! buy the book!)
This bit is good but its over too quickly (90 minutes is all it took to read) however the second half is great. You too can now play Shooting Stars!
It gives rules on how to do it in the book but to be honest, I don't think they are as good as playing it 'as you see it on the telly'. There are about 200 questions for each round. The first round is true or false(pretty obvious), the second round is the impressions round (good fun but I can only do a select few).
The third round is arguably the most fun. It's possibly my favourite bit from the show as well (apart from the dove from above), it's the Club Singing round! This is where the CD comes into play. Basically, on it are 46 songs sung by Vic in the club style and the players have to guess what it is. Some of these songs are extremely funny but the funny part is when you hear him sing them properly (the book is worth buying just to hear his version of Addicted to Love!) and there's Bob on hand to tell us what they were meant to be, even if he does sound like some sort of easy listening DJ.
After that, there are some ideas in the book for songs you can do in the club style for other people to guess.
Next is the Dove from Above. THere are 221 questions in this round, and players pick a number basically. The subjects fall into three categories:
1- Name 5 somethings in 10 seconds
2- Stupid Questions (the best!)
3- Dogs (Name a hairy dog. 'Husky' no sorry, Border Collie. The second best type of question!)
Unfortunately, there seems to a lot of catagory 1 questions and the other ones are more intresting. To liven things up there are also two other tracks on the CD, one of which says 'Eranu' and the other one says 'OVAVO' which you can play at oppotune moments. Hurrah!
Finally there is the Quick Fire round, and you can play another track on the CD where they say 'We REALLY want to see those fingers' for about 10 seconds. All these questions seem to be about entertainment and there doesn't seem to be the great variety of questions there are in the TV programme.
All this considered, it is great fun to play, although I've got a horrible feeling the questions are going to run out soon (We've played it quite a few times already). Still, like I said it is fun AND you get a short 20 second song about their donkey who doesn't like it's pancake sweet. Great!
VERDICT: 7/10 - A decent spin off but over too quickly I feel. Good while it lasts however.
Will you take up the celebrity challenge?
