Christmas Poem

A Bilingual Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the casa, not a
creature was stirring, Caramba! Que pasa?

Los ninos were all tucked away in their camas, some in
vestidos and some in pajamas,
While mama worked late in her little cocina, el viejo was
down at the corner cantina.

The stockings were hanging with mucho cuidado,
in hopes that Saint Nick would feel obligado
To bring all the children be they buenos or malos,
a nice batch of dulces and other regalos.

Outside in the yard there arose such a grito,
That I jumped to my feet like a frightened cabrito.
I ran to the window and looked afuera,
and who in the world do you think that it era?

St. Nick in a sleigh and a big red sombrero
Came dashing along like a crazy bombero!
And pulling his sleigh instead of venados
were eight little burros approaching volados.

I watched as they came, and this quaint little hombre
was shouting and whistling and calling by nombre:
Ay, Pancho! Ay Pepe! Ay Cuca! Ay Beto!
Ay Chato! Ay Chopo! Ay Maruca!, y Nieto!

Then standing erect with his hand on his pecho,
he flew to the top of our very own techo!
With his round little belly like a bowl of jalea,
he struggled to squeeze down our old chiminea.

Then huffing and puffing, at last in our sala,
with soot smeared all over his red suit de gala,
He filled all the stockings with lovely regalos,
for none of the ninos had been very malos.

Then chuckling aloud, seeming very contento,
he turned like a flash and was gone like el viento.
And I heard him exclaim, and this is verdad,
!Merry Christmas to All! Feliz Navidad!

Love Poem

I Love You More than "Love"

It is impossible to capture in words
the feelings I have for you
They are the strongest feelings that I
have ever had about anything
yet when I try to tell you them
or try to write them to you
the words do not even begin to touch
the depths of my feelings
And though I cannot explain the essence of
these phenomenal feelings
I can tell you what I feel like when I am with you
When I am with you it is as if
I were a bird flying freely in the clear blue sky
When I am with you it is as if
I were a flower opening up my petals of life
When I am with you it is as if
I were the waves of the ocean crashing strongly
against the shore
When I am with you it is as if
I were the rainbow after the storm
proudly showing my colors
When I am with you it is as if
everything that is beautiful surrounds us
This is just a very small part of how wonderful I feel
when I am with you
Maybe the word "love" was invented to explain
the deep, all-encompassing feelings that I have for you
but somehow it is not strong enough
But since it is the best word that there is
let me tell you a thousand times
I love you more than
"love"

Mets vs. Yankees This is really more like a joke
......but on the eve of the Subway Series 2000.....I thought I'd stick
it in here. Enjoy Yankee fans!!!!

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a NY Met
fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they are
Met fans too. Not really knowing what a Met fan is, but
wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands fly into
the air. There is, however, one exception. A little boy
named Charlie has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher
asks him why he has decided to be different. "Because I'm
not a Met fan" he retorts. "Then," asks the teacher,"what
are you?" "I'm a proud NY Yankees fan!" boasts the little
boy. The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face
slightly red. She asks Charlie why he is a Yankee fan.
"Well, my Dad and Mom are Yankee fans, so I'm a Yankee fan
too" he responds. The teacher is now angry. "That's no
reason," she says loudly. "What if your Mom was a moron,
and your dad was an idiot. What would you be then?"
Charlie smiles and says, "Then I'd be a Met fan."
