A march of terror through the streets of Lima
It was a cold April night in Lima in the year 1985 and a couple of kids from school marched throught the streets of Lima celebrating a aniversary of the late founder of their school. There were more than 200 twelve and eleven year olds marching on the streets in a march of respect. That night the President of Peru Dr. Alan Garcia Perez was giving a speech on the rally. More than five thousand people were in attendance. That night my mother gave me permission to participate in the rally and I was eleven years old at the time. The Shinning Path was very active during those days. After my friends and I marched in from of the stage were the president was, four car bombs exploted killing six people on impact and causing panic upon all of us. My mother and father ran through the streets of Lima like mad people looking for me. As they were approaching the stage, a car bomb exploted 20 feet from them, they almost got killed by it.
I was eleven years old was I doing something against the Shining path?
I was just a kid marching, because my parents always encourage me to participate on activies from school. All the kids were very scared, I saw a lot of them crying and I also saw their parents cried too. Do you think the shining path cares about the lives of innocent children? They almost killed us all and I think it is obvious who the real bad guys in this incident are.
