Deirdre has always been a fairly happy individual. As a young girl, she always found the good in life; one can't help doing that when one simply loves being alive. Being the first daughter after three sons tends to get you noticed, and most of the time it's good attention.
There was one time, however, when the attention wasn't so good. One day when she was ten, she went out riding on her favorite horse Midnight. Anyone nearby when she came back saw her with a tear in the left shoulder of her riding outfit and a scowl on her face. It was the first time anyone saw her truly angry. The next day, Deirdre seemed to be back to her natural, happy self. I was a week after that when some of the younger nobles' sons were found in their respective lands, naked and delerious. Three days after the fourth noble's son was found like that, the fifth noble's son was found in his father's orchard hanging upside down from a tree, the rope tied to one of his ankles. The left shoulder of his shirt was torn, and he was mumbling something about a gray demon-witch. (It was a week before he even started noticing people again.) A note was pinned to his shirt: "This is what they get for ruining my favorite riding outfit." It was signed with the silhouetted profile of a double-edged axe.
She really liked talking to Benedict. He was always very nice to her. After his first time out in Shadow, she listened attentively to his stories. After his second return, she asked if he would take her along. He declined, and she was a little sad about that. Deirdre had walked the Pattern by the time Benedict returned for the third time, and again she asked. This time he acceeded. He trained her some with her axe, her chosen weapon, and then took her out into Shadow for a bit. Nowadays she spends about equal time in Shadow and in Amber, but she always makes sure to be back when Benedict is home so she can talk with him in person some.
Deirdre was in Amber for Mirelle's walking of the Pattern. She was happy that her youngest sister was finally going to experience the wonders of Shadow. But then she hit the Final Veil, and in a bad way. Deirdre stood straight up and her jaw dropped when she heard Mirelle scream. Her axe which she had been leaning on fell to the floor with an unnoticed clang, its long handle just missing hitting the Pattern.
Deirdre's Trump: Deirdre's Trump shows her standing in one of the weapons storehouses in Amber Castle. She is wearing a black and gray outfit, her hair pulled back, and her eyes and mouth smiling. She's leaning with her right arm on the shaft that is the handle to her axe, and her left arm is out towards the viewer, her hand in a "V For Victory" pose.
Deirdre's statue: Everyone in the Royal Family has a statue. Deirdre's is made out of black jade, and the clothes are enchanted so that they will randomly change to a different color.
I drew a sketch of it and colored it twice. Here's the first one, and this is the final one. I didn't make the background in the final one; I found it at www.digitalblasphemy.com.
Deirdre's, ...photograph?
-----Maximilia, Benedict's player, wanted to put together a photo album of the player characters, and as such, asked the players to find an actor/actress who would fit the part of their respective character. I found someone appropriate, and this is the most appropriate image I found of said actress...
At one point in Deirdre's life in Shadow, she was the singer for a rock band. Here's a shot of her posing for a magazine.
