RPGDude's Guide to WEAPON-fighting

A note here- I am SO sorry for not finishing this section of my site sooner,
but my computer froze and this is the first time I've been able to get back on
here in a while. Please forgive me, and read these strategies:

Now that I've beaten the WEAPONs myself, I can show you how it's done.
Kill Ruby first-- you'll need the AP he gives you to level up your
Materia so you're fit to fight Emerald WEAPON. Give all the necessary
Materia to one "hit-guy" (in my case, Cloud) because your other two members
will be removed from the fight by Ruby's Whirlsand attack. Give your hit-guy
the following:

Any weapon that holds eight pieces of Materia (except Ultimate Weapons-
you want your materia to grow) Ex: Enhance Sword, Max Ray, Kaiser Knuckle,
Starlight Phone

Mystile Armor

A Ribbon so that Ruby's tentacles can't cause negative statuses

Outfit this person with these Materia:

Bahamut ZERO linked with Quadra Magic (Both can be level 1)

Knights of Round linked with HP Absorb (Both can be level 1)

Phoenix linked with Final Attack (optional, but you'll want them to grow)

Enough HP Pluses to get your HP over 8400

A Magic Plus Materia at as high a level as you can get it

Command Counter linked with Mime (Try to get the Command Counter's level up)

Speed Plus Materia to help you move faster

Luck Plus Materia- helps so that Ruby doesn't use Ultima too much.

The W-Summon Materia. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

At this point, my levels were 68 (Cloud), 59 (Tifa), and 58 (Cid)

Save beforehand and get going.
Start the battle by having a character or two cast Shield and Haste on
your hit-guy. After hitting and Big Swinging your party, Ruby will
Whirlsand your party down to one. If your hit-guy gets Whirlsanded, either
reset and try again or have someone cast Escape. But assuming it worked
out okay, Ruby should bury his tentacles in the sand. Now start your
attacking. Have the hit guy W-Summon Bahamut ZERO and Knights of Round.
Bahamut ZERO will run through four times, and KOR once. Now Mime every
subsequent round. Eventually, the tentacles will be hit by Bahamut ZERO as
well as Ruby WEAPON, and even later he'll withdraw them from the sand.
Just keep Miming. Whenever you use KOR, Ruby might counter with Ultima, but
thanks to the Mystile, the Speed Plus, and the Luck Plus, he'll usually
miss. When he can't cast Ultima, he'll use Comet2. Don't worry.
Every time KOR hits you'll be healed to full health (or near full health)
Just keep on Miming until he's dead. If you die, Phoenix will ressurect you
and you can use your Limit Break against the creature until it goes down.

Now go after Emerald. I charged up a little bit in the crater before facing
him, so my characters were:

Cloud:
Lvl 73 Limit Break: Lv 4 Omnislash
Weapon: Enhance Sword
Armor: Mystile

Yuffie:
Lvl 60 Limit Break: Lv 2 Landscaper
Weapon: Oritsuru
Armor: Imperial Guard

Cait Sith:
Lvl 61 Limit Break: Lv 2 Slots
Weapon: Starlight Phone
Armor: Mystile

First off, give one person Bahamut ZERO with Quad Magic (Both should be
Level 2) and Knights Of Round with HP Absorb (KOR should also be level two) .
Take the time to master your Mime materia (try having it equipped in the
fights with Diamond WEAPON, Ultimate WEAPON, and of course, Ruby WEAPON)
so you'll have two before you come. Try to do two Command Counter-Mime
links before this fight so that as a counter attack you'll repeat the combo
again.

Give everyone a lot of HP Pluses so their HPs are all 8500 or more (9999 is
always good-- that's what I had Cloud and Yuffie at). And have a couple of
Elixirs on hand. Now give Cloud (or whoever your strongest guy is, whoever
you think will die last) Phoenix linked with Final Attack. Both of these
should be level 2 or more. This person should also have Magic, Luck, and
Speed Pluses on at the highest level possible at this point in time.
One more thing-- stick the Underwater Materia on somebody so you don't drown.
This fight takes about an hour, which, last time I checked, is longer than
the 20 minutes you're given to defeat the creature. Having this equipped
eliminates that twenty-minute timer.

Now board the submarine, submerge, and go WEAPON-hunting.

Open the battle by having Cait Sith (or whoever has the Summons) cast
Bahamut ZERO and Knights Of Round. Now immediately have your other two
members Mime it. If your characters both had Sprint Shoes, like mine did,
then you could easily Mime at lightning-speed again and again and again
without disturbance.

Don't worry if your third party member dies (unless he's Miming too, but in
that case he shouldn't die thanks to HP Absorb) because the other two
are too busy Miming to heal him. Just keep Miming until the smaller lasers
open. Continue to Mime until they die. There are four, two of which sap HP
while the others take MP. At this point, Emerald usually gets mad and
unleashes Aire Tam Storm on you, which kills you (he didn't for me, but I
was just lucky. I originally thought that he couldn’t use this if his lasers were dead,
but I proved this wrong in another fight with him.), but if you have Final Attack-Phoenix,
You’ll do minimal damage (around 4000--nothing to Emerald WEAPON) and all of your
characters are instantly revived. Make sure the character who has equipped has enough MP
to cast it, or you’ll have to start the whole battle over...

Assuming Emerald didn’t use Aire Tam Storm or you just got revived, cast the Summon spells
again (if you were killed) and continue to Mime. At this point, unless Final Attack and Phoenix
are at really high levels, you can’t afford to die again, so be quick in killing him. When you finally do,
the ocean floor is safe once again.
