GUIDE TO VECHILES
Here is a quick guide to some of the aircrafts capabilities:
Arwing
Lock On Blast--By holding down the fire button, you can build up a charge of green energy that has a larger blast radius than your regular laser. Once the blast is charged simply move your aiming target over an emeny to lock on. Press the button again to release. If you hit an enemy with an energy blast without locking on, you will automatically get a +1 hit.
Homing Bomb--After you have charged up a green energy blast and locked on to an enemy target, try launching a bomb instead. The bomb will actually home in on your target like the energy blast would.
Premature Bomb Detonation--Once you have launched a bomb you can detonate it at any time by simply tapping the bomb button again. Useful if you miss.
Sharp Turning--In the 360 degree levels, you can turn left or right faster by rolling while turning. Press left or right and repeatedly tap the Z or R button to turn faster.
Looping and Immelman--If your throttle meter is full you can perform one of the Arwing's 2 special maneuvers by pressing down and either accelerate or break. The loop is handy for evading enemies on your tail and collecting items stacked vertically. The Immelman allows for a quick trun around in the 360 arenas.
LandMaster
Hover--By holding the Z and R buttons, you will be able to hover.
Roll--By double tapping either L or R button, you can roll.
Blue Mariner
Lock On--The Submarine's lock on system differs from the other two vehicles, in that you have to use the bomb button to fire missiles, and you do not need to charge them up first. However, you can only have one missle on screen at a time. Once that missle blows up, then you can fire another. Click your stick left or right to lock on to your next target.
MOVE THE 64 ON THE TITLE SCREEN
After beating the game using any path, reset the machine and when you see the characters start to talk on the title screen, just use the analog stick to move the 64 around.
EXPERT MODE/GRAPHIC EQUALIZER
To unlock Expert Mode and the sound test Graphic Equalizer you must achieve medal on all 15 levels. In order to get a Medal on a level you must beat the stage with a specific number of hits and all of your wing men alive.
PLAY ON FOOT
Get medals on all 15 stages in Expert Mode and you will be able to play as Fox, Falco, Slippy or Peppy on foot in Vs. games.
STARFOX ART
Complete the game in Expert mode and wait for the end of the credits. Depending on whether you went through Venom 1 or 2 you will get two different pieces of art. One is a picture of all the great characters in the game's heads, the other is a cool portrait shot of the StarFox team with the word "Great".
WARPS AND TIPS
Zoness to Sector Z--Shoot down all the spotlights on the stage, you will then go to Sector Z when you complete the stage.
Macbeth to Area 6--When you hit the last leg of the stage, shoot the red pillars with metal direction flags on them so they turn green. Keep a very close eye out for them. (If you went to zoness, Cat will come and help you.) At the end where the switchboard light is, a switch will appear. Quickly shoot it and the track will move to the right. Now the boss kills himself, with a nice 50-piont bounus.
Aquas--Get a score of 100 or higher in Sector Y to warp to Aquas.
Sector Z--In Sector X, keep left at all times. You will eventually hit an area where you have to quickly destroy white gates to pass through them. Destroy and pass all of them to get to the warp.
Titania--Near the end of Meteo Field, you should see rings made of sharp triangles pointing inward. Go through one and you will jet forward in a barrel roll. Go through all of them and it will make you go fast enough to warp.
Katarina--At the end of Sector X, shoot the head off of the boss with the big hands. When the second one grows, dodge him, and let Slippy come in. He will get hit by him and fly off to Katarina. Kill the boss nad that's your next stage to find Slippy.
Corneria to Sector Y--In Corneria, when Falco is being attacked by three ships, help him by killing the ships. When you get to the water part with the rock arches, go under every arch. Then head righ into the waterfall. Falco will guide you to an alternate boss, which gains access to Sector Y.
MEDAL OF HONOR AND EXPERT MODE
By meeting certain requirements on level, such as a high score, you will receive a Medal of Honor for that stage, shown on the planet. Get one medal for each stage and you will go to Expert Mode.
