Final Fantasy Job Classes

FFT: Jobs, Requirements, and Abilities

Squire
Level Requirements: None Description: The starting part to becoming a strong warrior. Most characters will start with this job. Skill: Basic Skill Best Abilities: Throw Stone, Heal, Counter Tackle, Gained JPs Up, Move +1

Chemist
Level Requirements: None Description: Gives Items to wounded allies in Battle. Early in the game this is your only method of healing. Learn Item Throw quickly. Skill: Item Best Abilities: Potions, Elixir, Phoenix Down, Auto Potion, Throw Item, Move-Find Item
My Opinion: Get a master chemist and keep her through the entire game.

Knight
Level Requirements: Level 2 Squire Description: The Knight is a strong fighter who is good with a sword. He can wear heavy armor which gives him very high HP. Skill: Battle Skill Best Abilities: All are pretty good. Get Weapon Gaurd and Sword Equip if you want this character to continue using swords.

My Opion: Again get a master and keep him. He is one of the strongest and also has one of the highest defense abilities.

Archer

Level Requirements: Level 2 Squire Description: The Archer uses a bow to cause damage from far away. I find this job a bit boring. Very useful if you can get the archer in a high place. Skill: Charge Best Abilities: Charge +1 and 2, Speed, Save, Concentrate, Jump +1

My Opinion: They are good in the early stages but I didn't use them much after that.

Monk
Level Requirements: Level 2 Knight Description: This is a great job. Low defense, but the Monk has an extremely powerful attack with his bare hands. The "Punch-Art" skills are deadly. Skill: Punch Art Best Abilities: Wave Fist, Earth Slash, Revive, Hamedo, Martial Arts, Move HP up

My Opinion: They are a very effective tool if you get one built up early.

Priest
Level Requirements: Level 2 Chemist Description: Takes over where the Chemist leaves off. Uses Holy and Recovery Magic. Skill: White Magic Best Abilities: Cure Spells, Raise Spells, Holy, Esna

My Opinion: Useful, but not worth it. A chemist can do this job except with a gun, making them more of a threat.

Wizard
Level Requirements: Level 2 Chemist Description: Master this job! If you eventually become a calculator you will be God-Like. Uses attack magic that can hit multiple targets. Skill: Black Magic Best Abilities: Fire 2, Frog, Death, Flare, Counter Magic

My Opinion: They are always a pain to fight, but I was happier with a summoner.

Time Mage

Level Requirements: Level 2 Black Mage Description: Useful support job. Makes poaching easy. Can really help out in tough battles. Good if paired with another skill. Like a Priest/Time Mage. Skill: Time Magic Best Abilities: Haste, Don't Move, Demi 2, Meteor, MP Switch, Teleport, Float

My Opinion: They are terrible in a battle situation

Summoner
Level Requirements: Level 2 Time Mage Description: Summoners call powerful monsters in battle. If you have high MP you can cast very powerful spells. I personally think you are better off without this job. Takes lots of MP and can't uses summon spells as a calculator Skill: Summon Best Abilities: Golem, Shiva, Titan, Leviathan, Fairy, Clops, MP Restore, Half of MP

My Opinion: The only magician worth anything to me. He can heal people and is a very effective warrior. Golem is a MAJOR help also.

Thief

My Opinion: Extremly useful when used right, with the proper abilities

Mediator
Level Requirements: Level 2 Yin-Yang Mage Description: Talks instead of fighting. Has powerful persuasion skills. This job is cool. You can get any of your enemies onto your party for good. Skill: Talk Skill Best Abilities: Invitation, Praise, Preach, Death Sentence, Mimic Darlabon, Equip Gun

My Opinion: I wasn't impressed with these at all. I never used them very much though.

My Opinion: Once you have all of there abilities they are excellent

Lancer
Level Requirements: Level 3 Thief Description: Heavily armored warrior, with the amazing Jump ability. I love this job. Lancers have good attack and can attack something 2 squares away. Skill: Jump Best Abilities: Level Jump 8, Vertical Jump 8, Move JPs Up

My Opinion: All I have to say is, they are perfect for battle

Samurai

Level Requirements: Level 3 Knight, Level 4 Monk, Level 2 LANCER (Must meet ALL Level Requirements if multiple are listed) Description: Master swordsman, that wears strong armor. Very high attack power. Blade Grasp increases the Samurai already high Evade. A very good job. Skill: Draw Out Best Abilities: Koutetsu, Murasame, Heaven's Cloud, Kikuichimo Ji, Blade Grasp, Equip Knige, Two Hands.

My Opinion: Again, one of the best characters in the game.

Ninja
Level Requirements: Level 3 Archer, Level 4 Thief, Level 2 Geomancer Description: Skill: Throw Best Abilities: Shuriken, Ball Knife, Katana, Ninja Sword, Knight Sword, Sunken State, Two Swords

My Opinion: They are really good with the two weapons, but I found, get the two sword ability and then use it as a Samurai or a Knight.

Calculator
Level Requirements: Level 4 White Mage, Level 4 Black Mage, Level 3 Time Mage, Level 3 Yin-Yang Mage Description: Very powerful job, especially if the character has a strong magic background. Uses math to destroy. Frustrating and Time-consuming, but extremely deadly once you figure it out. Auto battle a few times to see how its done. Skill: Math Skill Best Abilities: All Equations. Damage Split, Move-Get Exp.

My Opinion: Very good, I don't know how to use them but put them on autopilot and they can do some damage.

Bard *Male Characters Only*
Level Requirements: Level 4 Summoner, Level 4 Mediator Description: Uses his songs to support his allies. Skill: Sing Best Abilities: Life, Nameless, Last Song, Move +3, Fly

My Opinion: They are fun to use sometimes just like Dancers, thats about it.

Dancer *Female Characters Only* ...Thank God
Level Requirements: Level 4 Geomancer, Level 4 Lancer Description: Dances and attacks Skill: Dance Best Abilities: Wiznaibus, Slow Dance, Nameless Dance, Jump +3, Fly

My Opinion: Again they are just fun every now and then.

Mime
Level Requirements: Level 8 Squire, Level 8 Chemist, Level 4 Summoner, Level 4 Mediator, Level 4 Geomancer, Level 4 Lancer Description: Like Gogo from Final Fantasy 3. Mimics an allies attack. Uses the weapon of the person it mimes, even though it does not have a weapon. Deadly if paired with a calculator Skill: Mimic(This job only) Best Abilities: Depends on who you are miming

My opinion: confusing, but can be useful when used correctly.
