Here are some hints and tips that we found very useful thoughout the game.
*max out the number of potions, hi potions, and pheonix downs(99)
*keep at least 40 ethers and hi ethers
*keep a close eye on your characters hit points and magic points
*continously change materia around so that it gains levels quickly
*every few hours stop moving on in your quest and spend some time gaining some serious levels
*think carefully before you buy something, you don't want to waste any money
*remember that you can use spells like cure and life in the menu screen
*try not to run from battles, you can easily get into the habit of this and when you get to a boss, that is very bad
*when fighting boss use wall spell and regen, I use to just fight, but this can really make a difference, and it goes without saying for the american weapons
*don't use a chocobo to much it stops you from fighting critical battles
*when chocobo racing hold down R1, R2, L1 and L2 to raise your stamina, this is very important
*don't waste stable space on fair chocobos
*don't waste money on cheep breeding nuts
*visit the chocobo sage often
*sometimes change your weapons to ones with high materia growth, so that the materia gains levels quicker
*switch the members of your party around often so that they all gain levels evenly
