Scorpion 49's Christian Rap & Hip-Hop Site

Keepin it real for tha Lord!

Just ta let cha all know, Christian rap is bustin outa tha shackles its been put under for so many years. I've been jammin to secular rap for years, knowing that the Christian stuff was bad. Finally I gave it a chance, and sum of this stuff is tight! Bustin down the biggest walls are Remnant Militia, Sons of Intellect, Cross Movement, L.G. Wise & DCP, and Nu Wine.

Remnant Militia has a sweet east coast flavor. Their style and beats are just str8 dope and sound just like Wu-Tang. In fact, when I first heard 'em on dirt's Plague album, I thought to myself, "Dag, Wu-Tang's putting it down wit dirt!" These seven guys are totally devoted to Jesus and are doing the Lord's will in places its never been done before. Remnant Militia is composed of Architect, Deacon, Drastic, Neogen, Oposit, Roldan, and Surreal. If anybody wants to give a shoutout, here they are. If ya'll wanna write 'em, I've got their address. Mail me, and I'll hand it over. You can order a cassette str8 from em!

With the same breath I need to mention Sons of Intellect. Golden Child and KJ52 have actually opened for Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Mystikal, and others. They are straight for tha Lord, though. KJ52 is even an ordained minister. Since I can only jam to CD's in my car and can't have Remnant Militia, Son of Intellect is the mainstay my car's system. Insightful Comprehensions is the best rap CD out there, and I'm even counting secular artists. Every track hits hard with a great beat and an even greater message. You can order their CD and even sample a track from them at their homepage.

Cross Movement is another tight Christian hip-hop ensemble. All of their members (The Ambassador, Cruz Cordero, Earthquake, Enoch, The Fanatik, Tonic, Tru Life) put it down for Jesus Christ. What I especially like bout House of Representatives is the incredible variety that they put on the stage. Each song has its own individuality. These guys represent Christ by showing their lives as ministers on the streets. They will be huge. Check em out.

I put L.G. Wise and DCP together cause they mix a lot of their songs and albums together. DCP makes a lot of appearances on both of L.G. Wise's albums (G's Us 4 Life and Never Alone). The two friends rap with the same style, a deep vocal rap. While it is completely different from the above artists, they sound tight, and it is a great mix when you're bored of the speedy type. DCP (Demon Cap Peela) also has his own album out, called The Last Saint. All three are available at most places, but also at their record company, Grapetree Records. The mix of their two bass sounds, stylin with the higher faster OC (the third member of their posse) really breaks it down for tha Lord.

Nu Wine is another different sounding rapper. Formerly of Grapetree, now he is down with his very own Wine-O Records, and has his own website. Ya'll may disagree, but I think his sound is reminiscent of DMX, the hard-hittin Ruff Ryder. Either way, he is solely sold on the Lord and, like Remnant Militia, his plans are to spread gospel rap to where it needs to be played and heard. His albums (Da Bloody 5th, 1998, As the World Turns, and As the World Turns 2) are sold in secular stores. He sees himself as a rapper who is a Christian, not a Christian rapper. This makes him able to reach out for lost souls.

If you are new to the game, or if ya just wanna see how I feel, I have listed all of the Christian rap CD's that I own and reviewed them. Everything is my opinion. Please check it out!
