MOO's

Many People think that MOO's are new to the Internet. I guess that they kindof are but they have also been around in one form or another since the very beginning of the Internet. Before I get into the more complicated stuff I guess I should give you a few definitions.

MOO - MUD Object Oriented

MUD - Multi User Dimension (Or Dungeon)

Newbie - A new user to a MOO

Archwiz - The Arch Wizard or Archwiz is the person who runs the MOO. Known as #2.

Wizard - The people who are essentially the administrators of the MOO.

Now you know what MOO stands for. Now a little about what you can do on a MOO. You can do anything (Well almost). Really you can only do what has been programmed into the MOO. Most things are programmed by other people on the MOO. A lot of MOO's have objects that are only on there. After a while some MOO's will let you become a programmer. A programmer is someone who can make the objects and add features to them. A good example is a voice activated thing. It's feature is that when you "say" something it could respond.

Now Some MOO's are strictly Role-Playing, some are kindof RP and others are just social. What kind of MOO you'lll want to go on depends on what interests you. If you just want to talk to someone a social MOO is good, but if you want to say go on an adventure and kill monsters then a Role-Playing MOO is what you're looking for. If you want both of these things at the same time then a MOO that is kindof RP is for you. But whatever kind you choose you should have fun. On every MOO I've been on there are very helpful people who will help you when you a Newbie. These people will introduce you to the basics of whatever MOO you're on.

Here is some sample code for a voice activated robot that will do a few basic functions. Click Here for the code.
