Sega CD Reviews
Lords of Thunder
Type : Shooter / Side View
+ : this is the BEST shooter to ever be made ! ! ! A big game, with great graphics, and the best
music to go with it! Along with that stuff, you can get a ton of powerups and other things. This
is a MUST HAVE for ANYONE who likes shooters.
- : Not too challenging unless you put the challenge mode all the way to super
(Tough)
RATING :

Pitfall : The Mayan Adventure
Type : Action / Side Scroller
+ : A great sequel to the classic , Pitfall 2! This is the same thing as the SNES and
Genesis versions, but, there's incredible CD music and sounds recorded straight from the mayan
jungle! Nice graphics, good gameplay, and wonderfull animation (Along with the cool FMV intro
scene), make this game worth the price! The original Atari 2600 version of Pitfall is hidden on
the CD!!! This is supposedly, from what I've heard, to be the best version of it.
- : Can get boring at times.
RATING :

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch : Make My Video
Type : FMV Game
+ : Cool videos. Umm, not much variety in here. . .that's why I got it for 2 bucks new! OK, the
main point of this is to just alter the videos around and crap like that.
- : Not fun.
RATING :
Sewer Shark
Type : FMV Shooter
+ : The entire game is a big FMV, but you get to shoot stuff! It's great as the Sega CD original
pack in game. The music and sound effects sound great. It's kind of confusing at first and takes
you a while to figure it out, but it's still pretty cool, and definately worth the price of 39 Cents at
Funco Land
.
- : Confusing at first.
RATING :

Racing Aces
Type : Airplane Racing
+ : A great idea ! It's a racing game, but you get to fly airplanes! Choose a player out of about
23, and wreak havoc while you race! As you race, you get machine guns, rockets, air mines,
cannons, and homing missles to destroy your opponents! Great fun!
- : NOT 2 players. . .would have been great if it was. The control is tough to get used to. Bad framerate, but doesn't effect game play too much . . .the plane you control turns too fast.
RATING :

Android Assault
Type : Shooter / Side Scroller
+ : Another great shooter here! Many weapons, very nice, clear graphics, and very well done hard rock
music. Fun. . . .overall, this is another must have for anyone who likes shooters.
- : Nothing !
RATING :

Silpheed
Type : Shooter
+ : Another great shooter here! Big bosses, pretty good music, a few weapons, incredible
animated sequences, and lots of levels make this another winner!
- : It's pretty hard, especially when you get to the last boss. . .
RATING :

Mortal Kombat CD
Type : Fighting
+ : This is the arcade version of MK!!! Well, the graphics and backgrounds are more like the
Genesis version, but, fatalities have MORE blood, there's CD quality music, There's MORE
FMV sequences, AND, yes, the pit is just like the arcade (i.e. Heads stuck on the spikes, blood
everywhere). This one's worth it if you can't find the PC version.
- : The graphics and backgroounds besides the pit, are the same as the genesis version. If you
have the PC version of MK, don't even bother with this one. Loading time can take up to 20 seconds (at rare occasions).
RATING :

Heart of the Alien : Out of this World Parts 1 & 2
Type : Side Scroller / Action /
Adventure
+ : 2 great games on one CD! New, enhanced music too! All I can say is that, well, it's Out of
this World! Also, where else can you find Out of This World 2? No where else, because it was
ONLY on Sega CD! This one's definately worth it!
- : Out of this World 2 is nearly impossible. . .does ANYONE have a walkthrough for it?
RATING :

Revengers of Vengeance
Type : Fighting
+ : Many characters to choose from, and moves are simple to find out. Not too challenging, and
there's 3 different modes of play, such as an RPG mode!
- : Music isn't top notch, and neither are the graphics. . .a "Street Fighter rip off". I had problems
with this CD on my Sega CD. . .It would stall quite a bit. I returned it, and got a new copy. It
still did the same thing. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but there might be something wrong
with all the CDs that were manufactured . Take note of that.
RATING :

Dragon's Lair
Type : FMC (Full Motion Cartoon)
+ : A full motion cartoon, like the game "Space Ace". You watch your character move around,
and at certain points, you have to tell him what to do. If you do something wrong (Which
happens very often), your chracter dies. The animation is wonderful, like a real cartoon.
- : I didn't expect the colors to be so crappy. I thought the Sega CD could do better.
RATING :

NBA Jam
Type : Basketball
+ : Updated player rosters, CD quality music, and
loading time isn't a problem! Overall, it's a better game than the other normal NBA Jams on
SNES and Genesis, but it can't compare to The newer ones such as NBA Jam T.E. and NBA
Hang Time.
- : It's nothing new except updated player rosters.
RATING :

Batman Returns
Type : Racing / Side Scroller
+ : The old Genesis game , Batman Returns, comes back, with better sounds and music, a cool
new Racing mode, and other stuff! Very nice graphics in racing mode. Very good
music.
- : The graphics are NOT good on the normal side view mode. . .they are the EXACT same thing
as they are on the Genesis version. Extremely challenging.
RATING :

Sega arcade Classics 4 in one CD
Type : All sorts of stuff
+ : 4 great games included on one CD! Columns, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Revenge of
Shinobi included. It's a great bundle of games.
- : The thing is, they are all SEGA "Classics", so, you have probably gotten bored of them
already. None of them have new CD music or graphics except columns.
RATING :

Final Fight CD
Type : Fighting
+ : This is Final Fight, ARCADE style! ! ! All three characters from the arcade are here, along
with ALL the levels (Which equals 1 more level than the SNES version!). New, CD quality
music, and it's 2 players! This game is worth the price! There's also a time trial mode to see how
many enemies you can destroy in a certain amount of time (This gets addictive).
- : Very hard. No cool FMV scenes which are usually expected in Sega CD games.
RATING :

Ecco the Dolphin : Tides of Time
Type : Action / Adventure
+ : It's ecco, in a new game. Well, not so new if you've played and beaten the Genesis version.
There's new CD music and I think new sound effects, but besides from those and the new FMV
movies, it's the same game as the Genesis version. It's fun for a while, and involves a lot of game play time.
- : Way too challenging.
RATING :

Eternal Champions : Challenge from the Dark Side
Type : Fighting
+ : the BEST fighting game ever created! It's the biggest and bloodiest out there. Unlike the original, there are combos to learn, 11 hidden characters to find (yeah I know,
that's a lot), 2 different fatalities per stage, 1 vandetta per person (Fatalities like in MK), and a
movie kill for each character (Your character dies in an FMV sequence!). This game is
DEFINATELY worth it!!!!!
- : NOTHING!!!!!
RATING :

Lethal Enforcers
Type : Shoot ‘em Up
+ : Lethal Enforcers, what else can I say? It's Basically the arcade version with CD quality music. It's an average go - around - places shooting people in a Hogans Alley style shooter.
- : It's fun for a little while, then gets old. It looks like the enemies are paper cut outs.
RATING :

Sonic CD
Type : Side Scroller
+ : This is the best Sonic game ever! You go through the stages like in a normal Sonic game, but
there are three different versions of each level , a past, present, and future level. There are new
bonus stages, new bosses, completely new levels, and some incredible animations at the end of the
game. If you have the PC version, don't bother with this one (Unless you're desperate to play
sonic with a controller), and if you have this one, don't bother with the PC verision.
- : You don't seem to find as many of those powerup / ring boxes in this one.
RATING :

Prince of Persia Type : Action / Adventure
+ : Cool sounding music, there's a bit of blood when you die, and there's a really cheap oppening
sequence. . .if you can, go for the SNES vers.
- : The graphics are horrible. . .this is the Sega CD version. . . now take a look at the SNES or Genesis
versions. . .BIG difference! That's all. If you want a GOOD version of Prince of
Persia, get the SNES or Genesis versions.
RATING :

Chuck Rock 2 : Son of Chuck
Type : Side Scroller
+ : A great sequel to Chuck Rock. You control Chucks baby, Chuck jr. You get a nice sized
club to bash enemies with. The oppening cartoon was wonderfully done. It's like a real cartoon.
There are many levels, and it's basically 2 games in one. After you complete it, try it on hard
mode. You'll beging to notice that the levels are completely different!
- : gets boring quickly.
RATING :

Flashback : The Quest for Identity
Type : Action / Adventure
+ : A definate winner here. Incredible full motion video scenes (Video, not polygons like
in the SNES and Genesis ones). A long game, you'll be hooked on it for a long time. New CD
music which is different from the others. A winner of Sega's Best game award or something like
that, and it won another award in some gaming magazine.
- : Control is tough to get used to.
RATING :

World Cup USA ‘94
Type : Soccer
+ : An ok soccer game. Good music done by the Scorpions, and some cool motion video scenes.
It's good to play on, hmm, I think 6 player mode. But how many times do people actually have that many
friends over at one time?
- : Very tough to get used to and play.
