The Sega Master System
A VERY Little FAQ About The Master System :
The SEGA Master System was Sega's first home system in the video game industry. The bad part
was that it was released after the Nintendo, so it didn't gain much popularity.
Even though it wasn't very popular, it could easily beat the Nintendo. It had better graphics,
Better sound, More fun games, and better 2 player at the same time games, like Double Dragon,
Altered Beast, or Time Soldiers, and it even had a game already built in (Mine has got a little
maze game where you guide a snail through many mazes, sounds dull, but fun ! ),
Later on, it had Hang On/Safari Hunt built in. About 5 years after its release, Sega produced the
Master System 2. It had a full game built inside it, like Alex Kidd in Maricle World, and later on,
Sonic The Hedgehog. It still didn't gain popularity. It went completely dead in about 1993, but,
it was still kicking Nintendo's ass in Europe (THEY EVEN MADE A MORTAL KOMBAT 2
FOR IT OUT THERE ! ! ! ! !). There were adaptors also, Like the Power Base Converter
(Allows you to play Master System games on your Genesis ), and Master Gear (Allows you to
play Master System games on your GameGear).
You can still find Master Systems for sale, at pawnshops (Where I got My Power Base Converter
for 10 bucks!!!!! ) and thrift shops. If you find one for a low price, you sort of owe it to yourself

Hang On / Safari Hunt
Type : Racing/Shooting
+ : Great Graphics. 2 games on one cartridge : HANG ON and SAFARI HUNT (LIGHT
PHAZER REQUIRED). Fun.
- : Safari Hunt gets boring.

Missle Defense 3D
Type : Light Phazer Shooting
The object of this game is to shoot all of the missles that try to launch out. The Sega 3D
glasses are required, but It still plays fine without them. You'll just see 2 of every
thing.
+ : Good Graphics. Much more fun than Safari Hunt. Many different levels. Music it pretty
good.
- : There is no way to turn off the 3D function.
RATING :
Black Belt
Type : Side Scroller
+ : Good graphics, could be just a little better though. Music is pretty good. Fun. Great fighting
mode at the end of each stage. Good amount of levels. Challenging. Good paralax scrolling
backgrounds (Something you don't see much of on old 8-bit systems!). There are codes , and
there is a hidden level.
- : Graphics could be just a little better. . .I not saying that it's bad or anything. . .

Monopoly
Type : Board Game
+ : The graphics are pretty good. The game is fun too, on two player mode. It's a
lot like the SNES version. When role the Dice, it shows you moving along in a little movie type
mode. All of the cool qualities from the board game are in this one.
- : he he he. . . . . the music REALLY sucks. . .

Double Dragon
Type : Beat 'em Up
+ : Great Graphics! Music sounds pretty good. Challenging. Different levels than
the NES one. 2 Players at the same time! (It pissed me off so much that the NES one wasn't)
Like I said, MUCH better than the Nintendo version!
- : Ending isn't as good as the NES one.

After Burner
Type : Shooter
+ : The graphics are great! The music and sounds are good too, especially the
voices (You can actually hear them, and they are clear and sound real too!). Many levels (I
heard 17). Fun.
- : Too challenging.

Shooting Gallery
Type : Light Phazer Shooting
+ : This game is okay. Good graphics. The only real good thing about this is the
animation. It's the type of high quality animation that is on the SNES and other high tech
systems.
- : Not very fun. To Hard.

Type : 3D Shooter
***Note To People Who Own This . . . You Can Switch The 3D Mode Off By ushing
The Pause Button At The Title Screen. This Brings Up A Menu Which Lets You Switch From
3D Mode To 2D Mode
+ : Graphics are pretty good. That's about it.
- : I don't like this game that much since I haven't yet gotten the cool experience to
play it with the 3D glasses. The music is crappy (I don't mean crappy sound. It just doesn't
really have a good beat to it). Not that fun. All of the levels are basically the same, just more
enemies.

World Grand Prix
Type : Racing
+ : Kind of fun. Graphics are good, but could still be better. The game itself might
not be that great, but there is a cool edit mode where you make any track you want.
- : Where's the music ? ? ? And those darn oponent cars. . . they always seem to
get in your way when you try to go around them . . .

Rastan
Type : Side Scroller
+ : This is a great game. The graphics are good, the music isn't that bad, and hey,
this one of the very few Master System games that actually has a good ending! And listen up all
of you DOOM and MK fans ! There is actually a little bit of blood in here!
- : Nothing!

Altered Beast
Type : Side Scroller
+ : The graphics in this are very good. The music sounds good too. Also, you can
actually hear the voices, and they are clear. You get all of thew same monsters as you do in the
Genesis one (Except The Bear). You would probably like this one better than the Genesis
version because it is much more challenging. This is a fun game.
- : If only when you said "Power Up!" wouldn't sound so much like a kid. Oh
yeah. This one's not 2 players. Doesn't that suck ? ? ?

Penguin Land
Type : Puzzle/Strategy
+ : The graphics are impressive in this. The game is fun, and there are many levels
to play (I think about 30). Challenging.
- : Now if it was only 2 players.

Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Type : Side Scroller
+ : Nice clear graphics. Different armor and stuff to buy. Challenging and fun.
- : Not as fun as the original Wonder Boy (You know, the one that was an EXACT
replica of Adventure Island). Objects in the game could have more detailed graphics. Music
Sucks.

Wonder Boy 3 : The Dragon's Trap
Type : Side Scroller Mixed With RPG Elements. . .
+ : The graphics in this one are really good (Unlike part 2). Fun too. Good music.
There is a password feature also. You change into different creatures, like a dragon, a migit
sized person, and a creature like the Creature From The Black Lagoon. Overall, this is a lot
better than it's previous game.
- : Really hard.

Cyborg Hunter
Type : Side Scroller / Adventure
+ : Okay graphics. Ummm. . .what else is there?
- : Music sucks. Not too fun (Well, I haven't played it for a very long time).

Great Baseball
Type : Sports/Baseball
+ : Good graphics. It's pretty cool looking when you are up to bat or pitch. Cool
voices when the game actually yells out "Strike!" and "Out!" and other stuff.
- : The graphics in the outfield could be much better. Not much variety there
(reminds me of R.B.I. Baseball 1 for the NES)

+ : Fun. Good music. Anything else?
- : Graphics could be much better. Really hard. Is it worth it? (Well hey, I like it!)

+ : Great graphics! Very fun. Many levels. Graphics are better than the NES one.
2 players at the same time. And hey, It has an ending! Oh yeah, you get to chomp on tasty little
humans!
- : Smashing the cities of the U.S. gets a little boring after a while.
