Excerpts from "The Visions of F'thul Rith"

These are excerpts from the journal of F'thul Rith (formerly Izban), High Priest and Voice of Cthulhu.....

"....And my master came to me in a dream to show me his plan. He brought me to a throne room, where Death was the new king. In the throne sat the decaying body of the king I knew as Lord British. The king's subjects were lying motionless, twisted and decayed, and filling my nose with the sweet smell of death. My Lord then brought me to a window in the throne room, and I looked out over the city. Flames engulfed every townhouse and building, and the few citizens that had survived screamed in the streets in lament. I then saw the Great Black army of Cthulhu at the walls of the city, as they writhed and cajoled in glee. I gazed upon this scene and smiled...."

"...It was Great Cthulhu himself that appeared before me. He said, 'You are to be my messenger, and my voice in this world. Countless ages have I slept beneath the waves, but I feel my return to be at hand. You, Izban, shall be one of my tools by which I shall return to power. Go forth and spread chaos and death, and let no obstacle stand in your way. You are weak now, but your power will grow, and soon you will have few peers. Now go and do as I have commanded. Soon you will meet others who I have called into my service. And you will lead those who have heard the Call of Cthulhu!' All this my master told me..."

"...Know you what power is? Is it the ability to cleave another in half with a blade? To blast a fool with a wave of the hand? To gain entry to a lord's home and slay him while he sleeps? Hah! These are but fractions of what true power is! True power is gaining power over another's mind, as to force him to voluntarily kill himself in his own sleep..."

"...My Lord came to me in another dream and gave me anorther vision. I saw a peaceful, blue ocean. Then, the sky clouded over, and a multitude of nimbi coughed forth unholy rain and blasphemous thunder. And then I saw the ocean part, and from its depths rose a great island. Upon this island sat a temple, whose curves and shapes were defined by impossible angles. I knew this place instantly. It was the house in which the Great Old One slept. And my Lord said to me,'This is my island, R'lyeh. Here I sleep until the prophecy comes to pass.'..."

"...Great Cthulhu visited me again, this time in a waking vision. To me he said, "You have served me well. Now it is time for you to slough off the hold husk that was 'Izban, the weak cobbler.' Now and forever, your name shall be 'F'thul Rith,' which means 'dark messenger.' Let all fear the name who brings the tidings of Cthulhu!" I only hope that I may live up to the Great Old One's expectations..."

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wagn'nagl fhtagn."

"In His house in R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
