In the bustling town of Yarnsbow there was a young man named Tar Yorgan. Tar was a very large child and got into many school ground fights, which he always won. Tar was very popular with the people he didn't beat up though, and made many friends. One day Tar got a dare, and the rules were that he had to travel for three days by himself, with only a bow and ten arrows. If he stayed out for three days and didn't eat anything for another three days when he got back, he would be rewarded with 5 gold pieces. Tar thought that he could easily do this, so he set out on his own. Immediately he brought down a huge buck. This buck did not last for more than a day though since Tar had a very large appetite and he had to catch some more food.

During the second day, there was a very small earthquake that brought Tar awake, but it was not very big and Tar went straight back to sleep, completely forgetting about the shudder. At the end of his three days he only had three arrows left, but he had a very full stomach. Tar would have loved to feast out there for days in the peacefulness but he had those 50 copper waiting for him back home. So Tar decided to head back to Yarnsbow, cheerful as he went, confident that he would win the bet. What if his friends tried to back out on him? Tar thought, then he looked at his huge fists, at 16 years old, he was already the largest man in the whole town. They won't he smiled to himself.

Just then, as he cleared the rise where he could see the whole town, Tar was suddenly thrown from his feet as a huge tremor in the ground sent his teeth chattering. Tar tried to hold on to the ground for support but it was shaking as much as he was. As the tremors started to wither Tar noticed a very brightlight was now emanating from Yarsbow. He looked up and saw that the wizard's tower, which was the main business of the town, was glowing fiercely. The glow became so bright that Tar could hardly look at it. Then, the glow started to spread outward all around the tower, enveloping the town. Tar suddenly realized that the immense power that the tower had unleashed was heading for him , faster than he would have like. As Tar launched himself up and started to run, he was lifted off his feet and the landscape around him turned bright yellow, white, pink, red, orange, yellow and then a forest appeared before him.

Blurry-eyed, he stood, wiped himself off, and then realized he didn't recognize wherehe was. He turned around and then saw his town was nowhere to be seen, only the forest surrounded him. Tar then recalled that it would be hard to survive in unknown territory, so he checked his bow. A small crack decorated it. I'll only get off about three shots with this crack, and I only have three arrows left. How ironic. Tar smiled broadly and set off to find his family, his town, and win his bet.
