Hi I'm Jeremy.
(if you have any good programs, email me telling me about the program, then i might have you email it to me!
I'm currently working on an OS project called Akers OS (Akers is my last name) There will be two variations of the kernal, VGA, and SVGA, the VGA version will not have SVGA graphics, sound, and other various add ons that probably wouldn't benefeit a 286 or below, which is what it is designed for. The SVGA version will have all that, but requires at least a 386 to run on.
Specs for SVGA version:
How will this work? Well, i found a scripting utility called DESU, which allows you to make a definition file containing all script commands, then make a script, and the compiler compiles the script into byte codes, which are fed into the Kernal interpreter, and it executes the commands. So instead of having to include QMidi into your programs, just call the subs from the script, cause it's already built into the OS. This makes it easier on the programmer. I'll post all the Akers OS commands when i get them all done. I need help! Any useful subs you can send me are appriciated, if you find any that can communicate over PPP or TCP/IP, i'd REALLY appriciate those!
Hey! Lord Acidus has sent me a pretty cool newsletter, and he wanted me to post it! This newsletter does contain a lot of spelling errors and is
written in the way HE programs, and are a few places in which his methods don't agree
with mine, but it is mostly a really good newsletter. Here are the major
errors/disagreements with isues 1 & 2, 3 & 4 are Excellent!:
Modems can go up to 19200
there is another reboot code: OUT &H64, &HFE
You can use different mouse icons a little easier with XOR
ATD stands for dial, the T at the end means Touch Tone Dialing. If you use ATDP, it
would be Pulse dialing.
Otherwise, i believe everything is correct, any questions about this Email either Me

PLEASE! Submit your source code to my downloads page! I love to post source code! I will NOT except .exe files unless they come with source code. One of the main reasons Qbasic is alive today is how us programers freely exchange code. I don't understand why some people won't give source code. I ask them and they say they don't want people to steal their code, but even if somebody does steal their code, what are they going to do with it? Sell it for $50 a copy? I don't think so. Two things i'm trying to boycott: Spam and EXE files w/out souce code.
I'm also trying to put together a newsletter, and with it, start giving membership to view my page (Free of course, i'd just like to know more about how many different people come here, and how often people come back)
Qbasic is a cool BASIC interperter for DOS. You won't find it on win95 systems, but it exists in D:\other\oldmsdos on the WIN95 SETUP cd! If you don't have it, then click here to download it! Akers OS
Current Specs for both kernals:
Multitasking (Apps will be compiled scripts)
Interpreting (The scripts will be interpreted by the kernal)
Filesystem similar to that of unix.
Filesystem partitions are on DOS filesystem as files.
Mouse, Joystick, Lightpen supprort
Requires DOS 2.0
Version 1.0 is a text based shell, I should have a GUI by 2.0
Yes, even the text based shell will multitask!
Zephyr SVGA graphics support.
Qmidi sound support.
DMAplay wav sound support.
IPX network support (I might put this in VGA too, if you think something under a 386 would use IPX, let me know)
