About Pokemon

Pokemon (Pocket Monsters) the Nintendo Gameboy game was introduced in Japan in 1996 and soon became very popular. Now there is an animated tv show (its over here now too, its an anime show-anime is another name for japanese animation, there are alot of great series like Evangelion, Ranma1/2, Lum, Dragonball GT) Pokemon stores- Pokemon merchandise- Pokemon trading cards (from Wizards of the Coast) dolls and just about anything else you can think of (even 4 pokemonairplanes with All Nippon Airways). There are two versions on the game boy (at least in the U.S. anyway) red and blue (the game is basically the same except you have to trade with someone who has the other version with a connecter cable to get all 150 pokemon). The point of the game is to beat all of the gym trainers (8 of them) and collect the 8 badges so you can get into pokemon headquarters and beat the Elite Four, becoming a Pokemon Master. The game involves battling pokemon with your own pokemon and catching the pokemon that you dont have with pokeballs. There are 150 (actually 151) some of them evolved from their other form/s- some that you use stones on- and some that evolve just by trading them. Your ultimate goal is to catch them all and become the Greatest Pokemon Master of All Time. There are many different types of pokemon like plant/ ice/ fire/ fighting/ psychic/ etc and some are weak or strong against others. Pikachu (picture down there) is the most popular pokemon and also Ash's (main character on tv show) first pokemon.
