Pokemon Red and Blue

Pokemon for the Nintendo Game Boy (based on the story by Satoshi Tajiri) was released in Japan in 1996 and in the US on September 28 1998. The point of the game is to become the Greatest Pokemon Master of All Time by beating the Elite 4 and capturing all 150 Pokemon. To capture a pokemon, you have to run into a wild one, weaken it without 'fainting' it, and capture it with a pokeball. To battle the Elite 4 you have to get 8 badges from Pokemon Gyms by beating the 8 gym leaders. There are also many trainers along the way that challenge you to battles-if you win you get money. There are 15 different 'types' of pokemon or attacks like fire, water, grass, psychic, and some are weak or strong against others. There are two versions -Red and Blue- and the only differences are where and how many of each pokemon are in a specific area, and that each version is missing 11 pokemon that are in the other version-so its only possible to get all 150 via link cable (by trading). To get all the pokemon, you also have to evolve some- by level, stones or trading. One of the main goals of the game is to beat your rival, Gary.
