The Relic is a fairly standard closed box monster movie. The characters are all stranded inside a museum with the beast. The movie itself is amusing at best, but the monster. Well the monster is fairly cool. The Kathoga, named for the tribe of South American indians who worship this creature. They see it as a god, one they can call down on their enemies if need be. Literally.
The beast is a chimera, meaning its made up of numerous species merged into one like the chimera of greek myth. Its base genotype is usually human, normally a tribe member who has volunteered to protect his people. The movie introduces an odd form of genetic engineering. A naturally occuring plant product that contains strands of DNA from various organisms and massive amounts of hormones. Essentially a natural transformative cocktail. But an odd one in the sense that it seems possible to hold off the transformation by continuing to consume the plant product.
The transformative effects can alter any species, and in the movie a bug that eats the plants grows to the size of a rat. But when given to a human something altogther more nasty is created. The Kathoga.
Personality: The Kathoga is a carnivore pure and simple, it will eat whatever it can, including humans. The creature is intelligent enough to hide itself, but won't neccessarily have the ability to remember that humans react badly when other humans get eaten.
Appearance: The Kathoga is a composite creature so some lee way is open to the GM. The one in the movie was a 4 legged predator roughly the size of a horse but a bit longer. Each leg ended in manipulative paws with long claws. Its spine had long bone ridges and its tail was large and repitilian but seemed prehensile. The whole creature was covered in scales and coarse fur. Its face was long and repitilian, with large jaws capable of biting a human in half, equipped with small manipulative tenticles. Its eyes where large, catlike and yellow. The creature was capable of climbing most surfaces, leaping forty or more feet, and holding its breath for an indefinate period of time.

Usage: The Kathoga can represent a genetic experiment gone wrong, a creature designed by someone like Hitachi Biotech or Militech for combat purposes. Its mainly here to throw a new threat at your players that they won't be expecting.
