What are the three things that made the NES great? Give up? Try innovative new gameplay, unlike anything the world has seen, incredibly fun gameplay, and thousands of games. One of the 15th or 20th reasons is that some games are very funny. Anyways, due to poor translation, funny looking graphics, or weird concepts, some games just tickle fancy enough to create a page dedicated to them. So here you have it, another one of the many NES pages pointing out the foibles, flaws, and basic weird crap that goes on inside that gray box that we all love and cherish.

In this unorganized section of the Extravaganza, you can find some humor scattered around, some files about funny NES things, some reviews that are so witty they deserve a place on the page. This page is fully open to contribution, as are most of my pages (are there any that aren't), so send away. Strap on your laughing pants, because there is some funny stuff in these next few pages...

S T R I D E R

Strider... The game that inspired it all. I was originally going to do a page all about how funny Strider is (much like Seanbaby's NES Page), but then I got Dragon Power (more on that later) and I had to dedicate an entire section to humor.

In Strider, you are first sent on a mission by that pimp with the scar on the title, to "Kill Kain". I believe his Exact words were... "HIRYU, THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON I ASKED FOR YOU TO COME FOR. KAIN WAS CAPTURED BY THE ENEMY. SINCE THEY ONCE KNEW WHO HE IS, RESCUING HIM IS MEANINGLESS. KILL HIM! THAT'S YOUR MISSION!" Wow, what a plot, eh? It leaves plenty of room for confusion, disarray, and overall topsy-turviness. But other than that, your mission is quite clear, right? Not the case. You get muddling mission descriptions from disks that read "I LOST MY ATTACK-BOOTS IN CHINA. PLEASE FIND THEM.". Good luck, and while you're at it, I think I misplaced my bike in Aisa, could you pick it up for me.

Luckily, you have a variety of cleverly named attacks, such as... Triangle Jump, and Slide. Triangle jump is a fancy way of saying wall jump, which only has one real use, and it involves getting an oxygen mask. I don't really know how to use slide, but when I find out, I will post it up here. If you have any funny pictures, saying, or paragraphs, send em and get mucho regcognition.

D R A G O N P O W E R

Even though this ranks as one of the worst games in my book, I play it more that almost all of my other games. The main character, Goku (yes yes, I know) and his bitchy sidekick Nora look really, really funny. I would put too many screenshots up, but the ROM doesn't work. Damn.

I am in the process of recording every bit of dialouge in the game. I have up untill about level three. Click here to get to the page that has this dialouge. If you are too lazy to do that, here are some samles... "OKAY, OKAY. WE'LL GO ON A TRIP"., and, "HOW DO WE SEARCH?", and of course, "GOKU AND NORA'S STORY STARTS WITH THEIR TRIP TO FIND SEVEN CRYSTAL BALLS WHICH GRANT THEIR WISH!"

One thing I have found wrong with this game is, despite the enthralling name, I have found no dragon power. There are plenty of warthog powers, chicken powers, and goat powers, but not one dragon power. Maybe that is a typo. I know "LET'T GO, WE CAN'T HANG AROUND HERE." is... One last thing, I have to tell you about the hillarious cut scene that happens on the second level. Here you are "timed" and the longer you take, the madder Nora gets at you. I was feeling dirty, so I waited, and left Nora for dead (serves that skank right). It turns out, after she yells at you 4 or 5 times, it moves to a screen where she is magically untied and shooting you with a big, black rifle. "Sweet revenge... " She thinks to herself "Sweet revenge...". Once again, submit if you would like, and if you find a working rom, please send it to me. Thanky.
