Abortion
Written July 1999
Ahhhh, Abortion. What a tricky, sticky subject. In fact, I have not really morally judged it. I certainly don't like it or think it's a good thing- and yes, it's necessary to say this, since many people use words like "Pro-Abortion" to describe people like me. However, I have reached a very sound conclusion that does not require that I judge the act or the people involved morally.
In America, we have tried having Abortion legal and we have tried having it illegal, and both ways it happens. No matter how many laws and penalties are slapped upon it, it still takes place, and it still will take place, no matter what. Also, I think that a woman who has an abortion will not be a threat to society- she will not go out and commit homicide, or hurt anyone. So, I think there is no point to lock up women who have abortions, when prisonss are already overcrowded, and the space could be used to keep dangerous criminals, who would otherwise be hurting people, from doing so. Therefore, I think Abortion should be legal. (And for religious people who want to bring "justice" to women who "kill their babies"- isn't that what God and Hell are for?)
