David Bowie

David Bowie-David Bowie is definitely the second most influential
musician on here, and the only reason he's second to the Velvet
Underground is that they influenced him. I don't really
love his mid-late '60s stuff (what I've heard of it, anyway), but
his Ziggy Stardust album and persona in 1972 is definitely my
favorite era for him. After that, I like the futuristic,
forboding, dark-yet-catchy rock of the Diamond Dogs era as well.
Since he has pursued so many different musical styles, some of
them are BOUND to suck. And when he changed from Diamond Dogs to
Philly Soul, with no warning whatsoever, he proved my theory
correct. The only thing that made this forgivable was that after
becoming poor, being addicted to cocaine, and being creatively
destitute, he went to Berlin, and afterwards worked with
everyone's favorite Ambient pioneer and non-musician, Brian Eno.
I have not heard an extensive amount of their work together, but
what I have heard, I like alot. After that, there was
Scary Monsters, which, also from what I've heard, was good.
However, in 1982, he released Let's Dance. I'm still not sure if
I forgive him for that.
His new electronic-rock stuff is
okay, although Earthling makes me feel completely empty and
vacuous inside. And the worst part is, I don't think it's
supposed to.

eyes 'n' hairdo, God-given ass, and everything.
Suffragette City- from Ziggy
Stardust.
Moonage Daydream- Also from

Soul Love- THE most underrated
Ziggy song. A horrible MIDI, though.
Rebel Rebel- from Diamond
Dogs. Used in a car commercial. ~_~
Ashes to Ashes- What you're
hearing now. From Scary Monsters, 1980.
Warszawa- A great ambient/
instrumental piece from Low. Very, very depressing. Watch out.
