The Cure

The Cure-I'm really not a huge fan of them, but I've got so many freakin' MIDIs, I thought I should have a section about them. They started out as a quirky, sharp New Wave-pop band in the vein of XTC in the late '70s. This was the Boys Don't Cry era. In the early-mid eighties became a very, very dark Gothic-rock band- this is the Pornography era, and Pornography is one of two Cure albums I own. It is definitely one of my favorite albums. After that they got lighter and more pop-oriented again, but still being a sad and depressing '80s band. Maybe the "If you stay around long enough, you'll start to suck" disease applies to ALL bands, because it sure happened to The Cure in the '90s. But through all their career, they hung around with Siouxsie and the Banshees alot, and Robert Smith (the Cure's lead singer) is a very close friend of Siouxsie's. Which is all the more reason to like the Cure. My friend once told me that Robert Smith had sex with Siouxsie, but I think he was just trying to annoy me. My friend, that is. Not Robert Smith. Presumably.

MIDIs:

Killing an Arab- What you're hearing. From the Boys Don't Cry era.

Many people think this song is racist when they hear the title, but it is actually based on the Existentialist novel The Stranger, by Albert Camus.

A Forest

100 Years- from Pornography. A wonderful song, but not as good without the voice.

A Strange Day- also from Pornography.

The Same Deep Water as You

Close to Me

Just like Heaven
