Tenochtitlan is a large world which is mostly covered by deserts and arid steppe. It has a very diverse fauna of small reptilian, mammalian and avian species. The world has few mountainous regions, hence lakes, rivers and the like are much less common than flatland water bassins such as swamps and wetlands. With 4 large continents in the planet's arid zone and 1 very mountainous continent in the arctic, living space on Tenochtitlan is ample, but many regions are unsuitable for advanced life due to lack of clean water. The planet has one species which recently advanced into it's paleolithic age, unlike the Nizoans of Uxmal however, this species is native to the system. The Azelar, as they are called, are bipedal, thin reptilian creatures that range heights of app. 170 to 200 centimeters, but that only weigh about 55 kilograms. They have evolved as desert nomads, hunting the small rodent-like mammals of the central climate band for food. They travel the deserts at impressive speeds, using their long strides to achieve speeds approaching 50 kilometers an hours in their hunting sprints, what makes this impressive is not the speed, but the endurance of their advanced reptilian metabolism. Unlike a cheetah on earth, they are not completely drained by their sprints, they can muster this speed for about 5 minutes twice a day, when in good health.

Relations: In an unprecedented display of concern for primitive alien cultures, the Galactic Concord has ordered that this planet be considered a natural conservation, and that any development of the planet by humans or their alien partners are stictly forbidden. With the dissapointingly low levels of petrochemical and mineral ressources on the planet, all the Stellar nations but VoidCorp and the Thuldan Empire allowed the Concord to stake this claim. VoidCorp bases it's objection on the fact that the northern mountain continent that almost rings the arctic sector contain many sorts of bio-luminescent and phosphorescent fungi and mosses that should be analysed to determine if they contain any substances valuable to medical science. The continent also contains many special types of sand and stone that can be used in the manufacturing of ceramic subtances such as cerametal, the low weight and high heat resistance of these subtances make them extremely interesting to scientists for a number of purposes. The Thuldans claim that this planet's potential for agriculture make it imperative that humitidity levels be modified to render the vast, rich but dry soils of the central climate zone suitable for agriculture. Obviously, their concerns for the Azelar or the other species of Tenochtitlan's biosphere, is limited. Currently, both these claims have been stated to the Galactic Consulate, but they have yet to be examined in detail.

Technology: The Azelar rely very little on technology in their daily lives. It is limited to simple, silex tipped wooden spears, tents that protect them from the harsh desert wind and provide camouflage against the planet's larger predators, and simple stone ovens to better cook the meat they hunt. It is these high-temperature ovens that permit the Azelar to eat meat that would be too old, or too poisonous to eat raw. Lately, stealthy scientific teams have reported that the Azelar have progressed greatly in recent years, they are beginning to herd the mammals that live in the swamplands as livestock. This does not tax the environment that they live in, since the mammals feed on the algae and murky waters of the swamps that are poisonous to the Azelar, meaning that the oasi and springs used by the Azelar are not reduced by the livestock

(more to come).
