FINAL FANTASY 8 NEWS!!!!!!!!

You've all heard about the software code Squaresoft has included in the Japanese version of Final Fantasy 8 which prevents chipped playstations from loading the game? Well, don't be so unhappy because I have discovered 2 ways of overcoming this problem.

It has been confirmed that these Action Replay codes can override the code in the Final Fantasy 8 CD, thus allowing hardcore RPG gamers (like me) to enjoy Final Fantasy 8 earlier than any other person in the United States or Europe. Many nights have been used to confirm that this code works so be ready to buy an Action Replay cart, Xplorer cart or Game Shark cart to input these codes:

Allows FF 8 to Play in a Mod-Chipped System

D009B2B0 FFF3
8009B2E0 0046
D009B2B0 FFF3
8009B2E2 1000

If it works on your PSX, remember to give me, Big Guy, praise.

The other technique is to buy the mod-adaptors. These work similarly to the mod-chip but instead you just have to plug it into the parallel port located at the back of the PSX. These adaptors look similar to the Game Shark, Action Replay and Xplorer adaptors and this is how they work.

The mod-adaptor doesn't skip the country-code checkup which the PSX does everytime you switch on your PSX. You place a compatible CD into your PSX (depending on what country-code the PSX has) and after it stops you swap it for the import or copied game and it loads. This is where the mod-adaptor does its magic. The country-code loaded from your legitimate CD is held in the adaptors memory. When you load the imported version of FF8, the stored country-code will be loaded with the game, therefore there won't be a bypass and the game will load. Some mod-chipped PSX require you to do that in the Audio CD section of the PSX's bios, but what's different here is that the country-code loaded will be erased from memory after the import/copied game starts loading. Normal games will load but FF8 will detect it because the country-code has been bypassed.
