Lara's moves (and other stuff).
General Information:
Bar on the left of your screen is your health:
Use a medipak whenever your health gets low. Small medipack = half
health. Full medipack = full health.
Bar on the right corner of the screen:
Your supply of air when swimming. Avoid this if possible- If you start
losing health, use full medi-paks.
Dragons or secrets in TR2:
There are three dragons (white (silver), green(jade) and gold(gold)) on each level. If you
get all of the dragons, you get extra ammo on the last dragon. Should
you miss a dragon, Jeeves the butler will pester you in the mansion.
Secrets in TR1:
TR1: There are usually 3 or 4 secrets per level. A brrrdingggg sound
occurs when you find a secret.
Accessing guns or medipaks:
Esc key and left/right arrows. Hit enter to use an item.
Accessing game goodies:
Esc key then up arrow to get menu. Use left/right arrows to select item.
Hit enter to use an item.
Quitting the game in TR2:
ALT + F4.
Minimizing game to task bar in TR2:
ESC key to get menu, then ALT+TAB. To open the game, click on
the TR2 icon on the task bar. To close game, right click on taskbar
icon and select close.

Lara's Basic Moves:
Playstation Equivalent Keys: (I hope this is correct...)
Action = CTL, direction, UP etc.= arrow keys, JUMP = ALT,
WALK = SHIFT, keypad HOME = WALK LEFT, keypad PGUP =
WALK RIGHT
Switches:
CTL key.
Pick up things:
Walk near the item and press the CTL key.
Run:
arrow keys
Walk without falling off a ledge:
Shift + arrow keys.
Walk sideways:
Delete or Page Down (or Home or PgUp on the numerical keyboard).
Swimming below water:
Arrow keys + ALT. Use END key to do a roll.
Swimming above water:
Arrow keys or Walk sideways keys.
Get out of water:
CTL + up arrow, the ledge must be low enough.
Look:
INS key by itself or with arrow keys. Use Ins key by itself to line up
jumps.
Climb (TR2):
CTL + arrow keys. To climb down, use the Safety drop technique.
Safety Drop:
Use to drop from a high place and avoid losing health, face away from
the ledge and use the CTL + down arrow key to drop and hang over
the ledge. Now let go of the CTL key.
Jumping hints:
Use the Look (INS key) by itself to line up a jump. You can do
standing jump grabs to blocks by lining up the jump at a small diagonal.
Jump:
across a one block width gap:
Alt just before an arrow key.
Running jump:
Jumps across two block widths gap. Align on the edge of a block you
are standing on. Go backwards once with an arrow key. Hit the up
arrow first to just start running, and then just the ALT key before you
leave the ledge.
Grab:
Grab is the CTL key and is used to hold on to a ledge or ladder. Grab
is usually used with other keys.
Standing jump grab:
Useful for jumping and grabbing a higher ledge across a one block
width gap, or getting across a 2 block width horizontal gap. Align on
the edge of a block you are standing on. Press the ALT+CTL keys
just a bit before the up arrow. To grab a ledge at the end of the jump,
let go of the ALT and arrow key during the jump and only press the
CTL key to grab a ledge.
Long running jump/grab:
Jumps across two block widths gap and gain about 1 block in height or
jumps across a 3 block width gap. Align on the edge of a block you
are standing on. Go backwards once with an arrow key. Hit the up
arrow first, and then add the CTL +ALT keys before you leave the
ledge you are standing on. To grab a ledge at the end of the jump, let
go of the ALT and arrow key during the jump and only press the CTL
key to grab a ledge.
Jump Grab:
Used to grab a high ledge. Face the wall squarely and as close as
possible. Press ALT + CTL. Then let go of the ALT key.
Shooting:
CTL key. Remember to let go of the CTL key between kills or you
will continue shooting the first dead enemy while the enemies are
happily killing you.
Moving blocks:
Blocks are usually obvious or of a little different color than their
surroundings. Walk up right next to the middle of the block and face
the block. Hit the CTL key and Lara's hands should shake. Hold the
CTL key and use the up or down arrow key to move the block. Grunt
grunt.
Flares (TR2):
the / key, use the / key to throw a flare also.
Roll (TR2):
END key (or up and down arrow simultaneously). Use to change
direction quickly.

Lara's Advanced Moves:
Turning during a jump:
After the jump has started, press the arrow keys to turn a bit while in
the air. Essential for the torches in TR1.
Dropping from one ledge to another ledge:
Do a safety drop off the first ledge. Let go of the CTL key and
immediately press the CTL key again to grab the lower ledge. This
does not work for long vertical drops.
Climb without using legs (TR2):
Jump up very close to the edge of a climbing area (next to the wall).
Stay close to the edge.
Climbing to a ledge on the left or right (TR2):
In most cases, make Lara climb sideways and she will go a bit past the
climbing area, and she can then drop to the ledge.
Jumping backwards from a climbing wall (TR2):
CTL + ALT
Jumping from a climbing wall with flip in mid air (TR2):
CTL then ALT + END at the same time. You have to be at least 1
vertical block away from a ceiling. or CTL then ALT + (front and back
arrow keys simultaneously). or CTL + ALT + up arrow which is a
forward jump.
Jump with a roll (TR2):
(only on TR2) ALT + Up arrow + END key
Jumping while running:
Run with direction keys and press the desired jump buttons (ALT,
ALT+CTL) when you need to jump.
Fancy running jumps:
Start your running jump with the up arrow and then press the desired
jump keys. For example, a running swan dive jump. (Up arrow first,
then ALT + SHIFT +up arrow).
Jumping 3 platforms which are 1 block width apart:
Hold down the ALT key while jumping. You will land on the platform
and run 1 block width and jump again.
Platforms and torches:
Just as you land press the jump keys (ALT+ up arrow or other jump
types) to start the next jump.
Using the pulley on the rope (TR2):
CTL
Handstand on a ledge:
Hang on edge of ledge which is open above Lara, Use CTL + up
arrow to jump and hang on the ledge. Then press the Shift key.
Swan Dive:
Shift key then ALT + up arrow.
Swan Dive with roll (TR2):
This needs to be a high dive. Do a swan dive and then press the END
key for a roll or two.The beginning of the Deck is perfect to try this.
Quick way down a ladder (TR2):
Get down a long ladder in a hurry is to hold and release the Ctrl key as
you fall (found by ALeX K).
Safety drop with roll (TR2):
Stand in the middle of the block and face the edge. Press CTL +
END. One of my favorite moves.
Jumping to a slanted block to slide backwards or forwards:
If you are jumping to the slanted block from a higher ledge, you can
control which way you slide down. To slide forward, jump to the block
at the diagonal with Lara facing forward relative to the sliding ramp.
Similar technique to slide down backwards.

Lara's Illegal Moves:
Jump Trick or Corner Bug:
This is the greatest find ever because
it is a bug and works in either TR1 or
TR2. Remember the elusive
medi-pak in Palas Midas. You can
get it with this jump. You can get to
many spots you were not ever
supposed to visit. Look at Corner
Bug for the best description of this
move. You need to be on a ledge
next to a tall structure. In front of the
ledge and the structure must be a drop. Walk to the edge of the ledge
and then sideways next to the tall structure as close as possible. Turn at
a 45 degree between the tall structure and the drop like you are going
to jump off the ledge. Jump straight up. The objective is to watch Lara
as she lands and to see if her leg has landed in part of the tall structure
wall. Once this occurs, the next time you press jump you will be on top
of the tall structure. Found by Jason McAllister. Perfected by The
Croft Times.
Jumping through a gap in a low fence or
wall:
The Fence Bug: John (jman) has
refined the fence bug. You can
run right thru a fence. A fence is
composed of a series of
repeating fence "textures" that have a joint or seam where they
connect. Run up to the center of the seam, then leap back. Take one
walking step sideways from the center seam on the floor, and using the
Look key line Lara so her head is exactly in line with the seam. Now
press the run button, and if you did it right, you will go right thru the
fence and you can get to places that the designers never intended. For
example, in Return to Egypt near the end of the level, there is a double
paned fence window before you jumped into the Croc pool that leads
to the desert. Guess what? That achilles heel, the seam, is right there
in the middle of the window. Use the fence bug trick and you're in the
desert!
Running or jumping through a fence corner
Line Lara up at a 45 degree angle with the fence, and run at fence
corner. You can run right thru. OR face the corner, and press
ACTION and or JUMP and Lara goes through.
Hole bug: Use to drop through a hole and land on a
ledge. Jeff Reid's new Move!
Line up at the edge of the hole, and leap
backwards. Press FORWARD+ACTION
to drop thru the hole and on the ledge across
from the hole. If there is a ledge below a
deep hole such as the case near the beginning
of the Altantean Stronghold where you need
to drop thru a deep hole to the small pyramid below. If a hole is
directly above another hole in a lower level, or if there is a ledge in the
lower level, that lines up with the edge of the hole in the higher level,
Lara can use FORWARDS with ACTION to land on the side of the
hole below, or the ledge, without falling into the hole, or past the lower
ledge. In the Hive, at the very beginning, there are two holes just
ahead. If Lara faces the hole on the left, with her back to the hole on
the right, she can use FORWARD+ACTION to drop down to the
lower level and avoid the lava. This bypasses the "boulder" room.

Lara's Silly Moves
Blow Lara Up
Just do the weapon code without the flare. Take one step forward
(walking) Take one step backward. Turn around to your right (spin)
three times. Jump forward (or backward, either way works).
KABOOM!!
Snowmobile or Boat (TR2)
Getting on the snowmobile or boat:
CTL + up arrow.
Getting off the snowmobiles or boat:
ALT + right or left arrow
Speeding it up:
CTL key (only works on vehicles without guns)
Shooting guns:
CTL key
Steering:
Direction arrow keys
Braking:
Use the backwards arrow key

Weapons
Pistols:
Infinite ammo, but not much firepower.
Grenade Launcher (TR2):
good for close quarters when the enemy does not move very fast or
far.
M-16 (TR2):
Poor for close fighting, but excellent for far-away enemies.
Uzis or Automatic pistols:
Good for close quarter fighting.
Harpoon gun (TR2):
Not good for much! Use it for under water fighting. It is usually easier
to swim like the dickens past underwater enemies. Or jump in the
water to lure out the enemy and then climb out and shoot them.
Shotgun:
Good for the big stuff but quite slow.

Enemies
Flamethrower (TR2):
This is the equivalent of the grenade launcher. The flame thrower is
slow. Stay far away or move quickly when up close.
Sharks (TR2):
Very lethal and fast. Outswim if possible.

Game Tips
Walking thru metal shards:
Walk and do not run thru the metal shards to avoid getting hurt.
Out of flares? (TR2):
(only on TR2) Shoot your pistols for some light
Bad guys on a higher ledge:
Jump up and down on the lower ledge and shoot when you reach the
highest part of the jump.
Event triggers:
There is usually a spot where you enter which triggers a bad guy or
something else. Figure out what the trigger spot is and use it to defeat
the bad guy(s) or other event.
