Frequently Asked Questions Do you have equipment sales? If you mean, are we a billiards supply store, no. Buzzys' main goal is to promote interest in the sport of pool. We try to maintain that focus. If you're builiding a rec room, great! If you're looking for advice on your table and accessories we'd be glad to help. We do sell cues! Do you serve alcohol? Buzzy's is an alcohol free establishment. We serve coffee and we have snack and soda machines, if you're planning to stay awhile. Do children frequent your establishment? Irregularly. Many teens come to compete, especially in our 6ball tourny, and quite a few bring a parent. If you are looking to practice and you are the parent of a grade schooler, there are a half dozen arcade games in the rear to keep your child occupied. Why are you rated #1? The players in our tournys travel from the Poconos, Reading, New Jersey, and south. They enjoy the environment as well as the program. Our rating system ensures a pretty fair match every time you compete. Beginners win as frequently as higher rated players. Newcomers win as frequently as our regulars. Why 6 and 9 ball? There are a few reasons. Fist and foremost, it's a fun game! 9ball's rules create a fast paced game that is challenging both because it requires you to think, requires skill, and because the LUCK FACTOR is there! What these games allow us to do, as well, is run fairly long matches (race to five) in a short period of time. This means we can keep to a schedule that brings you in after work and lets you go before bedtime! How does the handicap work? The handicap in our 9ball tourny is fifteen places, numbered seven through "minus seven". Each higher level of player offers progressively larger amounts of "weight". Let me give you an example: two players rated a "three" would play each other even. But if one of those threes plays a two, the two will have to spot the three a ball. If the three gets to the eight before the two gets to the nine, he/she wins! It sounds complicated, but once you're in play you realize its very simple. AND what this allows us to do is both give the lower rated player a chance to win as well as give a higher rated player a challenging game. |
