The last town Ryu and his friends come upon at the end of his search for knowledge about his Brood heritage is the abandoned city of Caer Xhan in the middle of a barren desert. This is the last place in the game of Breath of Fire 3.
Caer Xhan plays a critical part in the end of Breath of Fire 3. Myria station is built in the sky above the city and can be accessed from a lift. That is where the final battle takes place.
This city is the largest that Ryu encounters. When he enters the city, Ryu realizes that Caer Xhan is a futurist city that is way ahead of its time with massive buildings, tall street lights, and (of course,) sliding doors.
But the city is lifeless. No one has been living in Caer Xhan for decades. The only thing moving in this town are two robots that sell weapons and items.
The city has been swallowed up in the middle of a barren desert and the buildings start to crumble and collapse.
When Ryu reaches the goddess Myria she tells him that before her, Caer Xhan was a huge metropolis with many people. It was a bustling and successful city. Then, the people began to fight and argue. Then, when Myria came, the city was swallowed up by the desert and was destroyed.
Myria wasn't able to save them (or so she says...). So she created her home on top of Caer Xhan because she had remorse for the all the people of the city. (She really built her home on Caer Xhan because no one lived their for miles and miles so she wouldn't be bothered.)
No one has come to Caer Xhan since its desruction, until one day when a young man and his friends come upon the city...
