Clan SILVER SNAKE Newsletter V01.IS01.

    Im gonna attemp to do this again, this will be the first official issue. I have the ppl who didn't want HTML mail marked as send plain text only, but I don't know if it will send just the text from this or what? 

    As you know Clan SilverSnake is made up of two Sections, or Squads support the games  Total Annihilation and Quake. I will try to section this off into Info for those two sections. Members are welcome to participate in both squads, I feel we are covering the multiplayer gaming area well, with first person, 3d, immersion, action Quake, and the Real Time strategy, ground breaking 3d graphics of Total Annihilation, or, TA.  For now, I think I will send info on both areas to all members, please let me know if I should keep them separate and keep track what members are in what Sqaud.

   The TA web site is  up, just follow the link from the main page. It lacks on content due to the fact that TA isn't even out yet.  but I recommend checking out the links and FAQ. 

VIW 212 is a TA clan, that has a cool league where clans get assigned a planet to defend. Clans can also try and take over other worlds by defeating the governing clan. check out VIW  

   we are now members of the official TA webring, I recommend any member webmasters to support the webring, this will make it worth having. it is better to have one good ring, than about 50 with only 3 members,heheh.     

    somone should write a fiction background for the clan, and how they got the name Silver Snake, send in your ideas.

    cSSQuake Squad   

     Oh, man, have I got some cool Quake stuff to share with you.  we still havn't had the chance for any official matches, Kman made a good point, that we need some training first. And boy, do I agree now. You will understand better after reading the following INFO and checking out recommend links.  

    I may singn us up in some official, clanring tournys. We are not really experianced ,but would be great fun and a chance to see how well we could do.  The only tourny I have found at the moment , it regular Quake only, which sucks..  

    We have actually had ppl getting together and doing some fragging.  No more than three, but it has been awesome, standing side by side with your teammates and dishing out the gibs was so cool, even when we got our butts kicked.  but there seem to always be one of us doing outstanding, considering we are new.. and it is a whole new ball game when you have to worry about more than just yourself, I will be the first to admit that I slammed a few rockets into some teammates,,oops.heheh.  well, check out some stuff that I have learned recently.. 

• Qspy 5.3, QWorld 2.0,GET 'EM

• ICQ and POWWOW GET'EM so we can meet and organize get togethers the  usual meeting consits of us meeting on chat and someone picks a server, then we go there..simple? sometimes,heheh. 
• SKins,, download the skins from the Quake files section, there are currently five, 3 for anyone(ssnake1,2, 3) the other two are personal but provided so you can see the players they belong to. If you have any to add mail them to Viper. 
• Reaper Bot 8.0 will be up on the Files section shortly, this is a Artificial Intelligent quake oppent that I must say surprised the hell out me. wew, even at skill level 1 these puppys are amazing, they actually learn , GREAT TRAINing AID, go up against four of these at once, YEa right. 
• CONTROL setup..wew, this is touchy with me, I have been using Gravis Gamepad, DUH, and actually holding down a run button, WRONG!!  this is what I recommend for almost everyone (right handed setup): LEFT hand: keyboard keys cluster for  forward/backpedal/stepleft/stepright, and other optional settings,, and the RIGHT hand on mouse, left click=fire right click= jump, and MOUSE LOOK ON ALWAYS (console command  +mlook)  this can be modified but key elementa are keyboard/mouse/ and mouselook alwasy on..        Warning: this sucks so bad at first, you will look like you suck, but in just one night, I started getting use to it and liking it, I wanted to pick up the game pad so bad, wew, I shunned temptation and with determination until I kept at it and it started feeling more natural, I have a long way to go, but now, I have access to a totally 3D environment.    
• FOV  field of vision, the default is 90, switch it to 110 (console command:  FOV 110)  this will make your vision wider, so you can see more,, just for fun set it to 200 and run really fast,heheh looks wild.
• When playing with members you should have your team set to: team SilverSnake  with capitol SS, and bind you R key to MEssage mode2, this will allow you to talk private with team members using the R key, if you dont know how to do this, download the autoexec.cfg file from the files page, and insert it into your Quake\id1 directory. 
• I am suggesting that you read any tactics pages you can find, there is a link to one at the moment on the quake main page called Weenies, and it is cool "I have already used several tricks from this" I couldn't beleive some of the stuff it talks about, seems impossible but they work..

    That is all I can think of at the moment, but I am sure that is plenty to think about. 

    NOTES: 

    This Newsletter has mentioned certain files to download from the Clan website, that may not be up yet, I actually have the pages updated on my system, but my webserver "Geocities.com" has a buggy FTP, sometimes it takes me awhile before I can get files uploaded, so please be patient, If not for that I would be zipping files up to the server everytime I seen something to be changed or added. 

   I am gonna start a section on the website for this newsletter. Sound good?  I am asking anyone with any input, that they want me to put in this to please send me them via email. This newletter should represent everyone, not just my ideas. SEND ME SOME STUFF, anyone want to do a Humor Section?TIps section? Something cool that happend during a game?? anything. 

   School starts for me next week, so I will be really busy. We need to try our best to find the best times to play?  maybe just keeping on meeting as always in evenings when we get the chance, and save weekends for official matches.  ICQ  List of UIN's is on the way, : )
