The Best Game Ever

Just as an openning author's note I would like you to keep in mind that this is my first real attempt at writing a story on one of my games. By this I mean it probably will not be top quality material but the game was too good to be overlooked.

First off I will get all the technical details out of the way by discribing positions and races. The map we decided on after much ado was dire straits because both teams are fond of air. Also keep in mind we got annihalated by the same team earlier in the day on pos. I (Chill) was of the color yellow and was situated in the top left starting position while my ally (Darkweaver) was purple and he was situated below me in the bottom left starting position. We were both of the terran race after he convinced me not to be protoss. As hindsight I'm glad he did.

That was the most amazing game I have ever played and the best comeback I have ever been a part of. This just goes to show you the power of BattleCruisers. They may be expensive and they do take a long time to build ... but if you get enough of them they are almost unstoppable if the opponent isn't prepared. Even if they are it can be tough.

Now onto our opponents. Originating out of the team Pimps on Parole came Toasty, who was of the color white, and Achille$, who was of the color brown. Both had chosen to enlist and serve for the overmind being of the zerg race.

The game started out smoothly. Our game plan was to do the VERY early expand by flying a command center away to an expansion on the 9th-11th peon and then for me to hit the skies with wraiths and for him to go for other... bigger units. Now we expected a hydralisk drop... because that is what most people do nowadays but I will talk more of that later. I got my CC in the air and flew it to the expansion directly under me while Darkweaver screwed up a bit and didn't get his CC into the air until a bit later. He chose a big, harder to defend island, just above and the the right of his bottom left main base.

Normally I guard my expansion HEAVILY with turrets so that no dropships or even mass OverLords can land there but that slows down my production so this game DarkWeaver told me to do something and not get as many turrets. Well taking his advice... a little too far I got my enginearing bay way too late. You can almost guess what happens next. Into my expansion flys swarm of mutalisks razing it to dust. I had already mined quite a bit of resources (instead of putting up D) so I had a good jump on resources but now no expansion.

I was a little worried now but despite that fact I still decided to go for wraiths and I started pumping them out of the 3 StarPorts that I had just built before the expansion attack. Resources were fairly tight but I managed to get cloak and about 11 wraiths. I started doing hit and runs on stray mutalisks and OverLords killing a few. It was about this time we decided we needed to take action. I also started scouting and found some expansions but there wasn't much we could do.

Since it is easier to get at a person's main base we decided to attack brown's main where Darkweaver could land his stimmed marines. He sent about 16 and I sent my 11 wraiths. We got there and wasted all his defenses including many hydralisks and some overlords. We were about to go for some drones and buildings when in comes white with mutalisks and overlords to the rescue so we had to fall back. I salvaged maybe 6-7 wriaths (which were quickly repaired) but Darkweaver lost his marine force.

About this time I tried to expand to the same spot below me again. I had the command center up and I was building turrets and a refinery because I needed gas when a mutalisk discovered me. Well needless to say the attempt did make it too far. If that wasn't enough just after that an ENORMOUS amount of zerglings stormed Darkweaver's main base with the aid of mutalisks later. There were at least 60 ... probably way more. I came with my wraiths to try and help and I killed a few but I couldn't stay after the mutalisks arrived because it was obvious he was going down. Amazingly enough he managed to shuttle most of his peons and some defenses over to his large expansion. He also salvaged two starports and some other stuff which were key factors in the game.

Things were looking really grim but I knew we could still win. By this time I knew we needed to get BattleCruisers, which was Dark's original plan, so I got my Science Facility ip. I used my wraiths to help defend Darkweaver's expansion in the meantime so thier guardians couldn't get too close. They kept doing hit and runs annoying him but no real damage was done. I knew now I needed an expansion or we were goners. So I grabbed 6 peons put them in a shuttle and went to the same expansion again where my refinery was still barely alive.

I landed my SCVs and threw up 6 turrets quickly and a bunkers with marines as well as what wraiths I had left (not many) ready to defend it. I looked at my main and discovered I had mined all of the minerals and gas so I brought all my peons to my expansion and began to work on that resource supply. By this time I had maybe 2 BCs and 5 or less wraiths. As all of this was going on Darkweaver used his StarPorts to build a Science Facility and Physics Lab. He also flew some SCVs over to my main because he had no room at his exp and started building depots like mad.

Things were starting to look up when I heard the dreaded cry for help from my partner. His expansion was under attack by guardians with a large army of mutalisks eagerly waiting until the turrets were turned into rubble. I sent my dwindling wraiths over and my 2 BCs reluctantly not wanting to give them away. I scared off the guards and the mutas started to attack but realized they'd get drawn into the turrets so they eventually turned back.

I had about 5 BattleCruisers now and Darkweaver had 2-3 of them as well. We decided to get a few more and then we laid waste to the expansion just right of my main. It was about this time we _finally_ got the Yamato gun. You may seem shocked at this but I just did not have enough resources to spare the 200/200. I barely could keep the BCs and depots flowing as it was. After the expansion was wasted I flew my now useless CC at my main base there to try and get another expand going. Also if I forgot to mention this by now they were going for huge numbers of hydralisks and were hydra dropping.

After we killed the expansion the one I was setting up quickly got leveled by a massive hord of hydralisks. I managed to save the command center. Meanwhile we repaired our battlecruisers and defended Darkweavers expansion that was under constant assault. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see a flash of brown and white on the top right corner of my main. Darkweaver sounded the alarm and we sent our BCs over to defend. By this time he had more than I did because his resource flow was steadier. I had about 6 which I basically repaired and resused the whole game. So we had a total of about 14 which we flew up there and with the help of some marines... a few bunkers and some other things we managed to finish off about 40 hydralisks with minimal losses. It slowed darkweaver down, however, due to the significant loss of supply depots.

We were planning our next attack when all of a sudden we see 6-7 brown overlords (with speed upgrade) fly through my town like they owned the place. We were like wth is this?? We brought our BCs up and wasted them but we were too late to realize it was just a distraction. Again to our right was even more Hydralisks than before (maybe 60) and about 5 defilers. We soon discovered that our BattleCruisers were plagued but the fought valiantly and with the help of 16 stimmed marines I had in dropships we rid ourselves of sacrificial army of the overmind. At this point I beleive Darkweaver had nearly 10 BattleCruisers all in the red. He was fortunate not to lose them. So once again we repaired and threw ourselves at brown's main base. This time we ripped his hydras with the help of irradiate (he never quite recovered from the first attack). White came to his aid, to no avail, and we reduced his town to rubbish in mere minutes despencing of spore colonies with the massive blast of the yamato gun.

For the first time in the game we had an advantage over the opposition. I remind you that they had all the other expansion on the map. We then decided to go try and hit white's main base. At this time I landed my CC again to the right of my main and it survived because they were too busy trying to kill our BCs to notice. On the way down we made a stop at the exp to the right of bottom left beside my ally's expansion and it didn't stand a chance against the might of our massive fleet. We had about 18 now (12 of which were Darkweaver's).

We were pretty much in control of the game now even though white had a stockpile of resources I am sure. They still possesed the other large expansion on the map, white's main town, and the expansion below brown's old main and above white's thriving colony. We flew in our BattleCruisers and to our surprise there wasn't a huge amount of resistance. We leveled the town with Yamato clearing a path for us. We fought various sorts of creatures including defilers, hydralisks, spore colonies and other vicious beasts. But as you know not much can stop that many battlecruisers... not even plague.

Victory was at hand! Brown had already retreated and left the game. Toasty elected to stay and fight to the bitter end. So we hastily repaired our contingent of BattleCruisers and went to his last expansion. He immediatly sacrificed all his drones to try and make about 20 spore colonies but it was too little, too late. We slowly progressed through the town meeting small resistances as we waded through the splattering blood spraying from the dieing zerg buildings and drones. Victory was ours and the opposition gave us his thoughts on the game in disbeleif that he lost. He also offered us some advice which you can see in this screenshot. That one was taken from Darkweaver's perspective as we finished razing his town
