TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO BAND HAS GONE BEFORE

Need I say more? Needless to say I will!

But First...

The Times (25/11/96):

***'70s Rock Bad For The Soul Says Vatican***
The Cardinal in charge of the modern successor to the Inquisition has labelled modern music an "instrument of the devil" and warned against the satanic influence of non-venerable acts such as Queen, Pink Floyd, the Eagles and the Rolling Stones. Cardinal Joseph Ratziger is Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the highest moral authority in the Vatican, after John Paul II. Ratziger used the Mass marking the feast of St Celia (patron saint of music) as his platform to denounce rock music in general and heavy metal in particular for promoting "diabolical and satanic messages". He also claimed that pop music "endangered the human soul" and warned against "subliminal" satanic influence of pop groups such as The Beatles.

Think about this the next time you listen to 'Made In Heaven'.

What would Freddie have to say about it? probably this.

A review of "The Miracle" album, penned by Chris Welch in "Metal Hammer", and it went like this:

"First came rock groups.
And lo, they were good. And then
came Queen, and the world trembled.
For Queen are not just a group, they are
a way of life, an institution, and they have a
place in the national heritage of treasures
that means they now transcend all
current fashions and styles..."

"When you flip a Queen album
on the stereo, you want to be bombarde
by waves of majestic power. You want to bathe in
throes of apocalyptic exuberance. You want angels and
demons to spiral around your head while ethereal
civilizations rise and fall to the beat."

And you sure are!

Actually, they're not there yet. They'll actually be here when hell freezes over, or when I have the time and patience to write them. (Which ever happenes first, I promise!)
