LMCTF

PREFACE

Well.... not really much I can say other than that LMCTF is, without a doubt, everything a CTF mod should be, and a heck of a lot more.

For all of you who've played id's CTF mod once or twice and think you've seen all CTF has to offer... think again. LMCTF casts a huge shadow over all other mods of its kind by offering several much needed enhancements to gameplay such as the offhand grapple, one new weapon, the customary artifacts, and plenty of maps to make sure it never gets old. (I played LMCTF for a week straight before I could pull myself away to do this review). :)

MAPS

The battlegrounds of LMCTF are composed of thirty amazing maps (most of them original, but several are conversions of id's levels). All of which are well crafted and unique from their counterparts.

I was pleasantly surprised by the aesthetic qualities and use of custom texturing exhibited in several of the maps (Cellblock 1138 and The Grim Gorge are perfect examples of this). Several of the maps can be described as nothing less than beautiful while others provide lightning fast gameplay. The LMCTF mappers did a great job, and somehow managed to create huge maps that still run surprisingly well on even the slowest of connections (mine is 24k and I rarely lagged even when there were more than 20 people on the server).

WEAPONS

LMCTF offers all of the original Q2 weapons along with one new weapon, the Plasma Rifle, which offers dual fire modes. The primary fire mode is a 3 round spread, the secondary is a single "bouncy" round that will ricochet off of several walls before dissipating.

Along with the Plasma Rifle, LMCTF also offers an offhand grapple, which drastically increases playability and the speed of the game. I am especially grateful for this feature and in my opinion no CTF mod should be without it.
