Druids of Karchan
About the DoK
Mysterious guardians of sacred groves, wise
counsellors to monarchs, cunning masters of many shapes,
friends to all animals, and terrible defenders of
unspoiled Nature: This is the Druid of the DoK. Although the priests of Celtic tribes of Western Europe in the time of Rome called themselves Druids, the Druids of Karchan are not Celtic priests, nor do they practice the bloody rights that made ancient druids infamous in the eyes of Rome. Rather, the Druids of Karchan more closely resemble the creatures of Victorian romance and modern fantasy. Merlin-like figures who revere Nature and wield power over plants, animals, weather and the elements. Druids fit into the hierarchy of an Order that espouses a well-defined ethos yet grants each Memer considerable freedom of action. This liberty results in a large diversity in the ranks of the DoK. Druids serve the force of Nature and its inherent natural cycles, such as that of birth, growth, death, and rebirth. Though soem Druids choose to worship Nature embodied in a particular God or Goddess, most Druids feel that Nature, as a force, has no specific form or personality. The processes of Nature generate magical powers its worshipers can tap. Failure to perform and follow the tenets of druidism leads a Druid to fall out of touch with Nature and lose spell access. |
