Dwarves are slow. That is their first and worst disadvantage.
Their movement is a basic 3, which means a march of only 6 inches per
turn. In addition, Dwarves may not ride any monsters or steeds.
This means no cavalry to improve their speed. Magic is another area
that Dwarves suck in. They have absolutely no spell casters. Which
takes out on the need on character points to be put in one, but also
means you're just sitting there during magic, hoping not to get
wrecked upon. They do have a natural resistance to magic, which
gives them an equal casting level to the caster meaning dispels work
on a 4+ regardless of who is casting. On the advantageous side,
Dwarves have some of the best war machines in the game. The war
machine list is long and each machine has some good power behind it.
Especially organ cannons. Then if you take a look at the runes
Dwarves have, they become appealing to use. They have weapon,
armour, war machine, standard bearer, and amulet type of runes.
There are tons of them, and you can have 3 runes on one item. This
sets up for some big time uniqueness and playability. Dwarves also
have an average toughness of 4 which makes them hard as hell to kill
compared to a mere human or elf.
The advantages and disadvantages of Dwarves are straight up. If
you don't want magic and don't care about slow movement, then why not
Dwarves. They have some useful war machines and the deadly runes
which can make any character an abomination which cannot be killed.
