The Empire has the largest human force in the Warhammer world. As well as being one of the largest human forces, the Empire is one of the oldest, if not the oldest army book produced by Games Workshop. This certainly doesn't help them out any. Empire troops rely on gunpowder as a leathal force in their army. They have the most gunpowder weapons in the game, and some deadly war machines. The Steam Tank is utterly destructive if used correctly. Aside from their long range capabilities, their hand to hand abilities are not that impressive. Being a human, Empire troops suffer from the basic strength, toughness, and weapon skill of only 3. Humans are not costly with the points, but their stats show it, with out having an impressive mark on any one of the stats.

I have never played versus Empire, so my knowledge of them is limited. But from what I gather, the Empire is deadly at range with some weaponry they have, and their war machines are quite good. However, I believe that since their book has not been updated in a long time, they don't benefit from any new rules or recent additions.
