Highlander has got to be the best television show yet to be made. Starring Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod, the series is broadcast internationally and is filmed in France. The 5th season of Highlander just ended with the death of Richie Ryan. Season 6 is going to contain 13 episodes and will be the final season for the show. Good news though, there will be a Highlander 4 movie, and it will have Duncan and Connor MacLeod in it. Apparently they will be going off of the television show timeline.

The three movies portray Connor MacLeod, a Scottish born warrior who wins the prize in the first film of Highlander. He later goes on to win it again in Highlander 3. Most people will agree that the first Highlander was a worthwhile movie, while the 2nd one was a complete waste of time and was an utter disappointment and the 3rd was a little bit better but still not near as good as the original.

The movie setting sets immortals as people whom never die unless their brain and heart are severed through the spinal cord. The immortals can breathe under water, get stabbed, shot, or whatever and will not miss a breathe. The quickening is portrayed as an extra sense that allows them to 'feel' life around them. This allows them to sense other immortals presense. Once the prize is won, the remaining immortal has all the knowledge and power of all the other immortals. This person can read the thoughts of any human on the earth. The cost comes at age, after the immortal has won the prize, they will start to age like a normal human being. Connor MacLeod is the star of the Highlander movies. Born in the middle 1500's, Connor was a Scottish warrior slain by The Kurgan in battle. Being immortal, he was not actually killed, and was soon driven from his village and set out on his own. Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez came to his rescue. Played by Sean Connery, Rameriz was an ancient immortal who taught Connor all the rules of the game and about immortality. He prepared Connor to face The Kurgan, who was the strongest evil immortal in the game. In the end, or actually many endings, Connor wins the prize and becomes the only living immortal on Earth.

Now the television series still keeps with the same theme but it follows different rules and a different timeline. Immortals can be killed just like any other mortal, however, they will come back to life as their broken body is magically healed. They too can only die when the head is severed from the body. The quickening is now not a feeling of all living things around them but the actual power that an immortal recieves after killing another immortal. Immortals in the tv series cannot feel life around them but merely have an extra sensory ability to sense other immortals around them. Duncan MacLeod is the star of the television series. A kinsman to Connor MacLeod. He was born in 1592 in the Highlands of Scotland where he was killed on the battlefield where he later came back to life and was banished out of the village like Connor. Connor soon met up with Duncan and taught him the rules about immortality, just as Rameriz did to Connor. The series is set in the present, but often will revert to flashbacks of Duncan's life. Starting its 6th season, the show is no where near reaching a prize. There are tons of immortals left in the world under the television theme. While the show will soon end with it's last season, it will undoubtedly set up for a line of movies based on it's television setting.
