Final Fantasy III takes place on a group of small islands on a planet similar to Earth. There were three gods 

that ruled this world, and humans lived peacefully.  Then the gods began to fight, turning humans that got in 

their way into Espers. The gods soon stopped fighting, and the Espers coexisted with humans. These Espers

had magical powers, but they still lived with the humans peacefully for a short time. Then a man opened a 

treasure chest he was told never to open. He unleashed great evil onto the world and caused a massive war 

between Espers and humans. Just about everything was destroyed. The gods wanted to stop this war, so they 

neutralized their powers by turning each other to stone. This made the Espers lose their magical power. The 

surviving Espers and humans went into hiding, and this evil man was overthrown by force. 

    1000 years later, an evil empire with incredible power is growing. They found the Espers' hiding spot, and 

captured most of them, including a baby girl born from a human and an Esper. They have started enslaving 

villages and towns on the Southern Continent. Anyone who resists is thrown in jail, or killed. Still worse yet, 

the Empire has discovered how to use the Espers' magical abilities and use them to genetically engineer 

magi-tek soldiers and weapons. The girl and two other heavily-armored troopers are sent to Narshe in order to

investigate claims of a frozen Esper being found there. Now, the adventure begins.......
