A ginger house, a crumbly treat
Makes a lovely thing to eat
Green sprinkle lawns and gumdrop steps
Inside this house are secrets kept.
Of love and life and dances slow
A ginger man made out of dough
Courts his bride of sugar sweet
And sweeps her off her candied feet.
In this house they live serene
Until a child, cruel and mean
Takes a bite, or two, or three
Causing great catastrophe.
The ginger man, his sugar wife
Are no longer allowed their life.
Did they ever really live?
After all, what did they give?
A moment sweet, forgotten quick
As people find some other trick.
But to each other, they were dear.
And that, my sweet, is all to hear.
They lived for love, and they loved well
Diving into that ocean swell
No matter what may cause a strife
Without love, there is no life.
The sugar wife with eyes of cream
Took upon a glazed gleam
Looking upon her doughy love
Soft, and gentle as a dove.
And he, with chocolate covered coats
Would swim a hundred thousand moats
For just one touch of sugar's kiss.
These candy people that I miss -
They live a life few others find
It matters not whats left behind.
As long as there is love to tell -
Why, then your life, its been lived well.
