What is Our Purpose? - Last Updated 11/16/97

The purpose of the GURPSWorld Project is to create a logical and playable fantasy-based GURPS world. We are currently working on a rich history and a pantheon of gods. Also in the works is a timeline and of course a map.

The current Project Admin is Jon Berg. Questions pertaining to group projects and such should be sent directly to him.

How do I get Information? - Last Updated 11/16/97

There are only two ways to get list information. 1) the list archives on this page and 2) by taking part in the list discussion.

The GURPSWorld Project is open to anyone. Unfortunately we do not have a host for our list. To simulate an actual list each member must keep a nickname file with the name and e-mail address of each list member. The current list members can be found on the webpage under the heading "Current List Members" right below this heading.

How do I join? - Last Updated 11/16/97

The first step is contact me and let me know you want to join. That way I can update the webpage "Current List Members" section and announce you to the list. After that you will need to setup your nickname file for the e-mail program you use.

How Do I Setup a Nickname File? - Last Updated 11/16/97

Good question! I myself use Eudora Pro v3.01 for Win95. I do not know how to setup a nickname list for anything else. As I get more information on other e-mail programs I will add instructions for them to this area.

How to Setup a Filter - Last Updated 11/16/97

As I stated above, I only know how to do this for Eudora Pro v3.01 for Win95. As I ather more information I will post it here.

The easiest way to update your nickname file folder is to copy the list below from within your current browser. First highlight the portion you wish to copy (usually click and hold left mouse button and drag to highlight text), then copy the portion to the clipboard (usually CNTL-C) and paste it into your nickname file folder (usually CNTL-V).

Criteria for Posting to the List - Lat Updated 11/23/97

From this point forward it is now official, we will be using a scheme for posting to the list. Its easy and will make it more efficient for everyone.

First off, everyone knows we put "GURPSWORLD.*" at the begginning of all posts to the list. After that we will now insert a categorical tag for postings to the list. This allows people to follow threads they are interested in and thereby channeling creativity where the interest and talent lay.

Here are the categorical Listings with a brief description following them:

EXAMPLE:

GURPSWORLD.RACE.Imperial Orcs
GURPSWORLD.HIST.The Begginning

NetMeetings - Last Updated 11/09/97

This is still in the works.

As anyone who is on the list knows, the attempted Netmeeting for Sunday 11/09/97 was an utter failure. I will be posting to the list and making arrangements for the next attempted NetMeeting. After three failures I will consider the venture a failure and stop trying to setup NetMeetings.

Archives - Last Updated 11/23/97

Because of webspace allowed the only archives that will _NOT_ be zipped will be the previous weeks archives. I hope this does not pose a problem for any of the list members or people who may be tuning into this page to see what we are doing.

List archives will be in plain text format and will be named in the format YYMMDD. Where YY = Year, MM = Month, and DD = Day. The archives are updated weekly on Sundays. List messages are archived from the previous Sunday to the previous Saturday.

Example

The archive 971026.txt would be the list messages archived for the week starting Sunday 10/26/97 and ending Saturday 11/01/97.

Archives for 10/23/97 through 10/25/97
Archives for 10/26/97 through 11/01/97
Archives for 11/02/97 through 11/08/97
Archives for 11/09/97 through 11/15/97
Archives for 11/16/97 through 11/22/97

Any suggestions, send them to me.
