ShAmRoCk's Irish Heritage

A Chairde
{Gaelic for "Dear Friends"}
I am very proud of my Irish heritage and would like to share
a bit of it with you.
To begin, my family is from Donegal  in the country of Ireland.  The isle of emerald seas, lush green mountains
castles nestled throughout the countryside, and of course
the Irish .
I am proud to be a "Gallagher". The Gallagher lineage
was at one time known as "O'Gallchobhair", but through-
out the ages, it was changed to "O'Gallagher".  During the Gaelic supression, the prefix "O" was dropped.
During the 14th to 16th centuries, the Gallaghers were
commanders ofthe O'Donnell's Cavalry, whom protected
Princes of Sir Connell.   During the 15th and 16th century,
6 descendents held the title of "Bishop of Raphoe". The
Bishop of Derry, Redmond O'Gallgher, was martyred in
1601.
The Gallaghers were one of the principal septs in Donegal
and they owned baronies of Raphoe, Trihugh, and the
Castle BallyShannon.  We are also descendents of
the warrior Callcohbar and from a King of Ireland
I guess I could be  Princess, and own a castle and don't  even know it    : )

I've listed below, a few Gaelic phrases and the meaning in English and how some are used
