Sure. Every Banjo-Kazooie fan out there knows all about that annoying Key of Ice waiting in Freezeezy Peak, just beyond our reach. And we also know that the Ice Key will not be available to us till the release of Banjo-Tooie.
The question in the minds of BK fans: What does this much-hyped Ice Key actually do?! Send me your ideas for what the frozen key actually DOES. The craziest, wackiest, coolest, funniest ideas will be posted on this page as I receive them. Get cracking! What does the Ice Key do??
BlueMoon007 thinks: I have a pretty clear mental picture of what you do with the Ice Key. You take it to the lava pool in Grunty's Lair, and drop it down in. The lava will harden up to rock, and you can safely leap down on to it. There, you hit the wall and it breaks apart and a cave opens, leading to the Lava World.
Hey, it's my own theory...what am I supposed to say about it?
Kazooie thinks: To open the door in Gobi's Valley! It'll melt, but what the hey! =P
Your theory is quick and to the point...but it makes sense!
HappyTree thinks: When you get the key, you'll use it to unlock a door in Banjo-Tooie, the room it leads to has a large pile of shark food on a table, you take the food to TTC and put on Sharkfood island, after Snacker eats the food, the island rises up, you go in and get the egg, the Gobi's Valley door opens up after you get it, after you get the Gobi's Valley egg, you take both of them to a bird in Fungus Forest (assuming they put it in BT) which happens to be their mother, she gives you a jar of honey, you eat it and it refills your energy.
You know, if that actually happened, I'd smash my Banjo-Tooie game.
Yumblie thinks: I think the ice key opens up a secret room in Grunty's lair 2, or whatever it
may be in Banjo-Tooie. But, it's more than that. I think that the eggs will
have baby somethings in them, and you collect them all to get some big
secret, but it's not necessary to complete the game. Like with Banana birds
in Donkey Kong 3, you didn't have to get any of them to beat the game. I
think the ice key will open up a secret room to get an egg. I think there
are many keys hidden through out the worlds in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie,
and you'll be kept busy stopping and swapping to eventually get them all.
Like, maybe a fire key in the rumored lava world, or a forest key in Fungus
Forest, if there is such a level.
Very interesting ideas, Yumblie...
Banjo thinks: When you go up the stairs after you beat Grunty's Furnace Fun when you turn left you can see Grunty's
machine. To the left of the machine is a door.I think the Ice Key opens that door and it leads to the Lava World or Fungus
Forest. Hey, do you know when Banjo-Tooie coming out?
This is a common and simple thought for what the Ice Key does. If there's a key, and a door, why shouldn't the key open the door? I'm not sure when Banjo-Tooie comes out, but it'll probably be next year.
Emily Picknell thinks:
I think the key is used to open the door to the boss at the end of the game
but to get to the key you go through the door in gobys valley and you would
smash the eggs on the door to open it.
The only question then is, how do you get through the door in Gobi's Valley?
Brian Picknell thinks: the key would open the door to the boss and those eggs are used to open
that door in gobys valley and it would lead you to the so called lava land.
Well, you've covered pretty much all the secrets right there.
Max thinks: I think when you get it, bottles will tell you to go to the lava place in the 350 door. Then I think you have to go to the Brentilda
on the platform. Then if you do, a key lock will pop out of the wall. And when you get near it, you hold the key. And if you
bump on it, you will activate a frozen waterfall to break, causing the water to harden the lava beneath. Then, you can go on the
lava and will suddenly crack and you will land on the lava world.
That's probably the most original theory yet! Besides, of course, HappyTree's. Let's say this one is the most original that makes sense. :-)
Nitros thinks:Maybe Bottles is hidden in a secret place in the lair, and when you find him, he'll
teach you a special attack using the Ice Key. You use the attack in the "Grunty's
Furnace Fun" room to freeze the lava and crawl through a small alcove to reach the
lava world. Gobi will be waiting there, but he is minutes from death from the heat.
You give him the Ice Key and he goes back to normal. Gobi will then tell you that
the Gruntilda that Banjo and Kazooie had trapped under a rock was fake, and Mumbo is
against you too! After Gobi leaves, Mumbo will jump down from a volcano to fight
you. When you beat him, it will open a new path where you meet his nicer girlfriend,
Mumba. She will teach you how to get the eggs and says to look for her hut. When you
find it, she will turn you into a lava beast so that you can wade in the lava. A
door is hidden there, and behind it is the REAL Gruntilda is waiting. TEN Jinjo Gods
emerge from the tower during the battle, andyou have to fire 10 ? Eggs at them and
they will merge into an enormous Jinjo God. After he beats the real Grunty, the end
credits roll and Mumba walks up to them with pictures she found in Mumbo's hut. The
pictures are for a new game.....Banjo-Threerie?
Banjo-Threerie? Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves? Great theory, though!
Garflovinral thinks:I think that once you get the Ice Key you can open the barrel in Mad Monster Mansion that has the metal bars over it. In the
barrel is a place where you use the two extra Jiggys to make Sharkfood Island rise up. Then you go in it and get the egg. Once
you get the egg you can open the door in Gobi's Valley. When you have both eggs you can sit on them and make two baby
Kazooie's. With the baby Kazooies you can fly to the hidden Lava World in Banjo-Tooie.
Baby Kazooies? Why are the eggs about 3 times bigger than adult Kazooie? :-)
Link thinks:I think the Ice key opens the door in Gobi's Valley. You know the shoes in front of
Gobi's Valley? So the key wont melt! Then you open the door and get the blue egg. Then
you give it to snacker to eat and lets you by.You swim under and see a switch and it
raises the island. Then use that egg to break the metal house in RBB and get the
second Ice key. Then that solitifies the lava pool and you get to the Lava land aka
Fire Eye Mountain!
LET SNACKER EAT THE EGG?! Cruel!
EOS thinks: Yo! First you must understand how to get the Ice Key
to understand what to do with it, which
I have come so close to doing. Go to a flight pad
on Freezeesy Peak and lift-off into the air. Fly
towards Wozza's cave and do a Beak Bomb WITHOUT
hitting the sides of the entrance. If done correctly
you'll go in, and the Wall blocking the key will be
back a bit farther. Reapeat this lots of times until
you get it.I have not succeeded in doing this, but
I've seen it for myself, because my friend did it.
Mumbo appears and says, "Ahh, ahh, ahh! You can't
have this untill Banjo-Tooie, Mumbo take away from
Bear and Bird." Then he puts it back and even Beak Bomb
trick won't get you to it. Note:The rest of this is when
you have Banjo-Tooie and have the Stop-and-Swap
accessory which allows you to play both at once.Once
you can get the Ice Key, go to Sharkfood Island. There,
go to Leaky. After he empties the water for the sandcastle,
enter the code, GIVETHEBEARLOTSOFAIR, and
NOWYOUCANFLYHIGHINTHESKY. Find a Flight Pad and start
flying. Fly to the last X before you got the
Treasure Chest Puzzle piece where he says,
"Now you'll never find me!" Instead on top of the pillar
is a hut which Bannjo should go into. There lives
Rakkity Coon, a racoon. He will give you the 'hidden'
Leaky in exchange for helping him find food in
Banjo-Tooie. After you lower the water with the
second Leaky you'll find a box saying, SHARFOOD on it.
The water won't be gone, but half gone. Give the
SHARKFOOD to Snacker and he will empty the water
completely, then swim to Rust Bucket Bay. Will all
the water drained you will see the cave entrance to
Sharkfood Island Cave. Go in, and follow the tunnel
down until you get the Mystery Pink Egg. Next,
find the 2nd Cheato by way of the pumpkin. Right before
the entrance awaits Mumbo who transoforms you to Banjo
just like for the first 123 sitch. Once transformed you
will notice no Brentilda, but on a far ledge (Not there
before,) Gobi! Get it, Lava World?? Walk carefully over
to him and trade him the Ice Key for a real one.
In his clumsiness he will drop the Ice Key and freeze
the lava. Slowly decsend to frozen lava. You'll see
two tunnels on your right and left. The right leads to
now the 'frozen' Furnace Fun Game which is no longer
available to be played. The left leads to the
Training Ground's Waterfall, also now frozen. You'll
need to go to both of them. First go to the dorment
Furnace Fun. You'll see a 'deformed' flight pad near
the right wall. Go there and take off. Fly really
high until your at the top. One of the audience
members, Mr. Vile, will look different from the other
Mr. Viles. Beak Bomb him. You'll break that part of
the wall. Another Tunnel, and then a LARGE room.
Inside will be a bunch of red feathers, gold feathers,
and blue eggs. In the middle be three magic carpets
like the ones in the note doors in the room with
Dingpot. They'll have the usual stuff the feathers
and the eggs. Behind them is another magic carpet, on
it is a black razor blade. Bottles is also there and
teaches you how to use it. Once you have that, go back
down to the frozen furnace. Note: Since that IS
Gruntilda's Lair's Furnace, everything in her lair is
COLD. Down there, there will be some some walking
snowman baddies. Like a combination of the ones in
Super Mario 64 and Bano-Kazooie, except these can walk.
Kill them and get it over with. Fly to the 'Tooty Warp'
and go back to the Overworld. Snowy isn't it? Go to
Gobi's Valley. Its time to open Gobi's Door!!!
Enter the level, luckily temperatures in Grunty's Lair
don't affect the worlds. Go to the door and get out
the key you traded Gobi for. A giant keyhole will open,
and unlock it you will!! But when you do, like in the
Note doors, it will disappear along with the key! You'll
see a tunnel like in King SandyButt's Tomb. Follow it
until you reach a tomb with a Sarcophagus. Use the
razor blade and open it. Inside is the other mystery
egg. Go to Mumbo's Mountain and go to the place where
you learned the Talon Trot, and fire the Pink Egg
into the wall behind the ruins. It will reveal
another tunnel (ugh!!) which to a warp like the one
with a picture of Tooty, but this one has a picture
of Clanker. It will warp you to a secret part of
Clanker's Cavern which has a Mumbo Hut! You'll see
Mumbo mowing a lawn. He will say something like this,
"Ahh, Bear and Bird found Mumbo holiday skull. Me
give special reward." Walk into his hut. It looks
much cooler than the rest. It has an air conditioner
behind Mumbo, a TV, N64, (of course) and a goldfish
like Banjo's. Remember how he said he'd save the
T-Rex transformation for later? Later is now! Once
your a minie T-Rex, exit Mumbo's Mountain. Unlike
other spells, this one doesn't wear off until you
change back. Go to Spiral Mountain's WaterFall,
now frozen, because of the furnace. Brake the ice
and go into the WaterFall Cave. The T-Rex has a
tunneling move, use it. Soon you'll break through
to a mystical room where a Bowser-type character
in an Aladdin hat awaits you. He says,
"Ahh, Banjo and Kazooie, you have finally arrived. We
have waited much time for you. I am Kweili, the magical
dragon. My friends the Jinjos thank you for freeing
them. As soon as you give me the second mystery egg
you have found, I shall give you something which
will benefit you a great deal in the rest of
Banjo-Tooie." Mumbo drops in and changes you back. Give
Kwelli the Blue Mystery Egg. He will now do some
magic and give Banjo the Egg Blaster. It allows you to
pick up more smaller pink eggs to fire at enemies
through you Bazooka like Bird Weapon. He opens the
new Banjo-Tooie worlds and says that you'll find more
pink eggs in those levels to use on the new enemies.
The reason I've come up with this is a bit of rumors,
a bit of fact, and lots of imagination. Note: There is
a secret Mumbo Hut, but I can't say where. Sorry, but
I'm keeping my secret. Also I e-mailed Rare and
Rakkity Coon will be in the game. Unless they lied to
me again! Oh, the Freezeesy Peak trick works, but its
HARD to get, and Mumbo does appear. You also can get
it with Game Shark and Mumbo DOESN't appear, but you
can't use it. I look forward to Banjo-Tooie and I
must say that there is a BIT too much hype ove these
secrets. Sheesh, the game is coming out this year,
quit trying to figure it out and just wait.
What am I saying????? Of course get that Key!!!!!!!!!!
Aw, c'mon, tell us where that secret Mumbo hut is! Don't be cruel!
Kathy thinks:You know that big door that blocks the way to Dingpot at the top of the
tower, which you need 25 jigsaws to open? Well, it has a keyhole in it, so
maybe if you put the Ice Key into the keyhole instead of completing the
picture, the door will open to a different area! And if you find more keys,
then maybe putting them in will cause the door to open to even MORE areas!!!
The laws of physics would say that whether you opened a door with a key or jigsaw magic, it would lead to the same place, but Banjo-Kazooie doesn't follow the laws of physics, so that's ok!
GamingGodX thinks:First of all, for all you information hungry gamers, Fungus Forest IS Click
Clock wood. Rare edited it out and it became click clock wood. Now the ice
key. I think that in Banjo tooie, there is a secret and well hidden elemental
key in each level.
Then there will be this special room with all these key holes with elemental
signs on them. You put the key in, and the lock disapears. You go through the
door, and you can now play that certain level with 2 players!! A
multiplayer!!!!
Probably not, but that would be cool.
Yeah, it would be cool!
Arman thinks:
I think it opens up the door in gobi's valley and it will let you play a
demo of the third sequel.
But, I thought the blue egg was in the Gobi's Valley door...ah well!
Solid Snake thinks: La la la
Brilliant.
