Fushigi Yuugi
Fushigi Yuugi (translated Mysterious Play) is a GREAT anime. It
is my favorite anime in the world. Fushigi Yuugi starts out in
Japan (duh!) with Miaka Yuuki, a Jr. High School student who is
at school having a lesson of the English language. This is
happening while she is day dreaming about food (that's her
hobby: eat eat eat!) Anyways, in her dream, the food disappears
because all these teachers are telling her to STUDY for the high
school entrance exams (which is very stressful). She shouts out
that she wants her food back! But also ends up hitting the
teacher with her desk.. After class, she and her best friend,
Yui Hongo, go to the library to return a book. While Yui goes to
return her book, Miaka gets hungry.. (hehe) and goes to the
vending machine but she drops her 100 yen piece. She goes to
pick it up and sees the image of a large red phoenix. She
follows it up the stairs to a room that is restricted. Yui
finds Miaka and Miaka tells her of what she saw. Yui finds it
hard to believe but they go inside the room nonetheless.
They find out that there are a lot of rare books inside when
all of sudden, a book falls on the ground. It is actually
'The Universe of the Four Gods'. Yui opens it up and
reads the incantation:
This is the story of a girl, who made her dreams come true
after she came to possess the seven stars of Suzaku,
and many powers were bestoyed upon her.
The story itself is a spell. The one who reads it
through will be given the powers and granted
a wish like the girl in the story.
Because... the story begins and becomes real...
The moment the first page is turned.
They then get mysteriously transported to a world unknown to the two girls in a bright red light! They got
transported to Ancient China!! While Miaka was looking around,
Yui was getting captured by slave traders! Miaka noticed and
tried to save Yui but got captured herself. When all seemed
lost, a young man with the sign of the 'ogre' (oni in japanese)
appeared and saved them. When Miaka was just looking at how
cute this guy was, Yui was gone! He though that the guy had
taken her so she followed. But in fact, Yui had returned back
into the library. This anime has a great story which is filled
with romance, comedy, drama and such KAWAII (CUTE!!) Super-
Deformed (SD for short) Characters! Definately check this anime out,
I think that you will LOVE it like I do. However, this may be a
little inappropriate for younger viewers as they do deal with
more adult themes. ;)
