Zerg Basic Strategy
The Story:
Although all races follow some similar basic
ideas in SC, each race has some things they're exceptionally good at. Therefore,
they each have a set of basic strategies that they need to follow:
Some basic Zerg strategy templates:
Don't rush up the tech tree:
Rushing up the tech tree for Zerg or any race
is many times what gets a player killed. Although Zerg can produce mass
numbers of units quickly, don't think that makes you safe. Zerg need these
units for defense, offense, and scouting. Slowly go up the tech tree. Build
a Spawning pool, another Hatchery, an Extractor, and then a Hydra Den.
Zerglings and Hydras are much more powerful than many people think. Use
them well.
The Universe's Most Vicious
Spit:
Upgrade those Hydras! Hydralisks are underestimated
by many newbies. "They're slow!", "They don't have any armor!","They're
range sucks!". If you don't like these things about hydras, then upgrade
them! Personally, I upgrade my Hydra speed before I even build a Hydra.
As soon as I start building them I upgrade their range. Build an evolution
chamber if you like. Increased carapace and damage is incredibly useful.
Especially when playing Zerg vs. Zerg. Use your upgraded hydras well and
nothing can stop you!
The Master of Non-Expanding:
Never let your enemies expand An old Warcraft
trick was sending a grunt to each goldmine to know where your enemies were
thinking of expanding to. Zerg are perfect for this. Zerglings are incredibly
cheap and comes in twos. Build a few extra Zerglings, evolve to burrow,
and place a burrowed Zergling at each expansion spot. If your enemy decides
to expand, you'll know as soon as he does.
More coming soon.
